Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

It's like saying the Earth should stop rotating around the Sun.
We had 3 years of awful football, almost relegated twice had point deduction, nearly takeover by dodgy idiots and almost went bankrupt.
Yet here we are about to go in to a shiny new stadium with a very good manager and owners who have a clue and actually have money and the club have money, who already spent 50 million this summer and removed the high wage dross from the club and signed our best player to a new contract(who would of been sold this year) yet people are way over reacting, give your self a head wobble and relax, they got this.

Seems fans have short memories

It does make you wonder whether there has been no pragmatism at the club in terms of the signings they are trying to make (depending on who they targeted). Ultimately we want to improve the quality of the first team and squad, but have we tried to sign players who were always going to have better options (or are holding out for better options)?

There will be a world of footballers out there I’d imagine who would jump at the chance to join us who also would improve our first team and squad quality. Not getting your first choice shouldn’t mean then resorting to player who aren’t good enough. We are not an attractive club regardless of stadium because of the joke we have been over the last few years, and the profile we have for foreign players I’d imagine is more down to us being a PL club then our name alone.

I’m confident we will get numbers in, but will be pissed off if we sacrificed points in August when we could have got those players in earlier. By all means got for first choices, but if they or their agent want to wait then move in quickly.

You have absolutely no idea as to what extent Moyes’ involvement in transfers is. Just like the rest of us. You’re simply guessing.

Well theres only Kinnear (CEO), Hammond (Transfer negotiator) and Moyes who would have any seniority regarding decisions on the footballer we are moving for.

Who do you think is the one picking the players we approach?

Lets also keep in mind Moyes does not want to work with a DOF and never has done as he wants control.

Its clear as day.

9 additional players is total stupidity.
GK: Pickford / Virginia* / New*
LB: Mykolenko / New*
LCB: Branthwaite / New*
RCB: Tarkowski / O'Brien
RB: Patterson / New*
LM: Ndiaye / McNeil
LCM: Gana* / Iroegbunam
RCM: Garner / Armstrong
RM: New* / New*
ACM: Alcaraz* / New*
CF: Beto / Chermiti / New*
I’m not taking the Mickey but how many were you advocating here ?

If we take it as 9 total so 6 more than you’d be happy I presume ?

Minumum 6 with loans included.
I don't see how this works, Dave.

I think you're right about the figure - I don't think the club can afford any more.

But if we're only spending another £50m on 6 players, how will any of them be any good? Even decent loanees usually have loan fees. 4 loan fees for players we'd want is surely at least £15m.

We've spent nearly £30m on one player and a majority on here think he's not even starting in the first 11.

But we'd have to find another 2 players for average £15-18m who are good enough to push our first team and step in when they're injured or off form.

Who are these players?

Kubo alone could cost the entire budget if we need to pay the release fee and would certainly leave very little left if we got him. Luiz probably wouldn't be much less. Both would blow the budget wide apart with nothing left for loans.

Oh and they also must be young players with a resale value and nobody on high wages.

We set the club impossible benchmarks and then moan when they're not met. That's not having a go at you - we all do it.

Yeah, I'd be really surprised at that.

Moyes actually said "9 or 10" according to a couple of tweets I've seen, so I expect that has to be including the 3 we've already signed

Right back, left back, 2 x centre mid, 2 x winger and then maybe another option at number 10 or back up striker
Yeah I feel like If it’s 9 , which seems unlikely , it’d almost certainly include the 3 we’ve already wrapped up .

Everton every August without fail.

Purely a message to the recruitment team to get a move on. I’m sure he doesn’t believe he’ll get nine players, and he probably feels 9 isn’t even needed. But by giving such a large number it’ll pressure them in to getting the 4/5/6 he wants and needs.

We’re not signing nine players between now and September 1st.
Surely a passive aggressive email, or screaming at them to do their bloody job in an office for 20mins would suffice?

Why bother publicly pointing out their ineptitude/inaction?
What does that achieve except for making it look as if there is no management or leadership responsibility at the club?

Why not include the post I was responding to?

I'm not seeing any text where I "advocated" signing 9 players.

What i'm seeing is a reply to a post stating we needed 12 players and me listing the positions down in wonderment of where the 12 were needed.
