Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

It's the only appropriate response to people who are literally posting rubbish day after day. People need to grow a backbone and stop panicking.

A better response would be to back up your own position as to why we shouldn’t be pissed off with how this transfer window is going. Since you’ve never done that, I assume you’ve actually got nothing.

Would Dibling be an easier deal to do than Kubo?

With Southampton in the championship, you would assume so.

So that Joyce article is saying
Conceicao was first choice and we've missed out, Kubo second choice but too much, Dibling third choice and we shall see

We were never getting Conceicao and a call to his agent would have made that clear as day. Same as a call to establish Kubo's value.

Its poor from the recruitment side.

Dibling is surely going to be very expensive - probably more expensive than the first two options, so I'm not sure I understand how we move on to him as a third choice

I think the overall fee could be higher but the downpayment wouldnt be. The add ons could be european football in which case we'll have made a decent amount due to league placing.

If we can’t afford Kubo I’m not sure on what planet they’re living that they think we can afford Dibling.

He's playing for a championship team? Should be cheaper.

Don't think Dibling is anywhere near good enough tbh and Saints want £50m+ for him.

Id expect £35mil with add ons.

When you say "not good enough", he's all about potential.

The Telegraph claimed Southampton valued Dibling at £100m. The Guardian reckoned it would take at least £50m + add-ons/sell on to get Southampton to the table. That is in the ballpark of Kubo’s release clause that is “too expensive”. It is also a massive punt on the potential of a 19 year old that eg Chelsea or Spurs could take on but realistically it is hard to see how we could.

We're placed to offer him first 11 football.

Tyler Dibling seems to be heading into the last year of his contract. In six months he can move abroad for nothing or in twelve he can stay in England and the decided by arbitration.

I have only seen him play once and wasn't particuarly impressed but then he is more or less the same age as Harrison Armstrong it is way too early to predict what the future holds for such a young lad.

2027

Thats the thing with Armstrong, Rigg, Dibling, Wharton and Gordon.

At the young ages its all about potential. The high fee is due to being English and of course the club knowing the potential.

If these players go on to play for England their values become astronomical which is why teams need to go for them early.

I'm not saying anything no-one knows...for me if were serious about 'building' a new team then we'd be smart to go for Dibling and Anzou (the Bayern player).

Well if we take it that Joyce is usually fairly accurate, for the first time I'm smelling a rat with the new ownership, pulling from the old Everton playbook. No way is the Kubo deal too financially difficult and Dibling an appropriate alternative. Southampton were quoting £100m for the lad. And even if they end up way short, we will be paying them more than City want for McAtee, and similar to what Sociedad want for Kubo. For a player who is almost totally unproven.

Plus they're putting out all the feelers about business going into September. Not a great look tbh.

This is all very fishy.

I wanted Dibling & Rigg before the window opened.

If you take a high level overview of a rebuild we shouldnt only be looking at this season.

A player like Anzou could be our attacking left back and Dibling our right winger...both long term. We may see up/down performances for a season or two but at 21 they could both become standout players.

If we also take Armstrong as being in a similar age bracket to both...it could be a new wave of young players with hunger coming into the squad.

The likes of Douglas Luiz are important to give the immediate performances a boost but i think a deal for Dibling could be very, very rewarding.

We don't need potential Zat we need someone who can come in now and Saints want big money for him, they have said £50m+

Rigg will play for Sunderland in PL this year. Local lad living a dream at a club with no pressure to sell. Depending on how their season goes he might be gettable next summer.
