Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Yeah, Moyes will have some say in transfers, especially if he is meeting players but I doubt the Friedkins are going to let him have as much of a weight in deciding them as people are suggesting.

I'm sure Moyes will talk to the player, but that will surely be after our recruitment team has been in touch with the club and player to see if he's even interested. And has being given permission to talk to him.

We would have signed Kudus, strike or not, the only thing that stopped the signing was we couldn't match their evaluation and the small matter of United idiotically vastly overpaying for Ajax's winger Antony.
Yeah I wasn’t suggesting we wouldn’t just despite him going on strike to force the move , Moyes signed him .

Other posters were suggesting he wouldn’t sign luis because of missing training , so I mentioned kudus .

I appreciate we would have signed him if circumstances were different , they weren’t so we didn’t .

I agree mate. But modern footballers don't think that way. If they did, Chelsea wouldn’t have 60 players.
Had this convo the other day, funnily enough, and I kind of disagree. I was specifically talking about Delap, and the fact that each player will back themselves to be THE one that breaks the striker curse, or gets a regular spot despite a massive squad, etc. It's the kind of arrogance you want in a player but very often it ultimately fails them.

That's why I think Luiz will come to us in the hopes of springboarding to a bigger club. It's not because he wants to be an Everton hero and see out his career here, he just knows a club in our position will pay him handsomely, he'll walk into the team and he's capable of producing the form that will get him another, probably final big move in a year or two.

This is why I always roll my eyes a bit when I hear "if they don't want to play for the club, don't sign them", or some version of NSNO-based cryarsing. Best we can hope to be right now is a stepping stone, and do it well like Porto, Atletico, Brighton etc have done. I'm alright with it. Bring your apathetic brilliance here, Dougy baby.

Guess this one will get filed under the character excuse.

'Everton miss out on targets despite £150m war chest'

'Too much to do, too little time. Window shuts before Everton can fill key positions'

'Moyes: the team worked hard but ultimately the character just wasn't out there'

'Everton confident youngsters can step up. Armstrong won't go out on loan manager confirms'

'Everton lose out on marquee Brazilian after work permit issues'

'Everton last gasp deadline day return of Lookman fails - £40m bid gets rebuffed'

'A window of missed opportunity as rivals swoop on Everton targets'

'Last minute loan brings Everton's slow transfer window to a close'

Or something equally as obvious as one of those.
