Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Both Doucoure and Young played valuable roles in our defensive solidity. Even Harrison put in Dyche’s hard yards. I agree we’ve lost very little going forward but we are definitely not as well equipped to dig in as we were at the end of last season. That does matter.
Once Moyes rejoined Young hardly played as JOB took his spot and even Doucoure was being phased out by the end of the season. We kept a clean sheet against Newcastle without Tawks and Branthewaite. If Dyche was in charge you may have a point but he isn't. We have lost bodies, that is all. They are all easily replaceable with equivalents in very short order if that is all we are trying to achieve. We have signed 4 players on deadline in past seasons. The Hitchhikers Guide to the Transfer Window says DON'T PANIC.

I know we lost, what was it, 11 players (?), and we 100% need to replace most of those bodies, but when people were constructing their starting 11 from about mid March onwards, how many of the starting 11 did we actually lose?

Young wouldn't have been in most starting 11s, Doucoure in what, 50% at most (over Alcaraz)? DCL in maybe 50% (at most) over Beto?

The only big position worry (and still is) is that we lost both RM/RW options, but honestly I'd say most people's main gripe with the team last year was how poor our RM options were, and they were both loans. OK it's currently worse (lol), but you have to believe they will address this before the Roma game at the very latest.

Then it's a case of wither improving on what we have, or getting decent competition in as squad filler. I'll not start panicking until the Roma game tbh... then it's yellow stained sheets ahoy if nothing has happened by then.

A one hit wonder too -

I use to work with Andy 'Thunderclap' Newman. He had become a total recluse as far as fame goes. He never washed, EVER, and stank to high-heaven. He pulled a shopping trolley around with him (the old lady type) full of electrical tools - he was an electrician. Then, he got famous again after the song was back on TV and briefly cleaned himself up for an award ceremony .

Unfortunately, he is no longer with us.

Didn't he sign Arnautovic too ?
He liked Lingard, was happy with Zouma after his feline antics, stood by Pienaar over the 'incidents', always played Gibson, despite him being known for being massively unprofessional. Like all managers, he picks and chooses when he questions character.

I think the bigger issue here is that I sincerely doubt that Luiz would be effectively going on strike to come to Everton (or West Ham for that matter). Suspect Forest or Utd are still in for him.

I think we're a great move for him tbh. Look at the role he played at Villa in their transition from relegation battle to Europe. He comes here, backs himself to be the hero again, and gets another crack at the big time before he's 30.

Don’t know the reason he hadn’t shown up for training is a big concern but it might not be a sinister as it sounds.

The question really is why did Villa let him go and Juve releasing him after a season ?

What a waste of potential Gibson was...
