Transfer Rumour Douglas Luiz

The flip side on Luiz is it has been widely reported that Juve has told his agent to get him a move but are also trying to recoup all their outlay. The agent has lots of interest but nobody willing to get near Juve’s terms so he feels Juve demands are making an exit impossible. The player’s only leverage is disruption and the agent advises this having failed to get any flexibility from Juve. Agents are nearly always behind this (unless the player is so out of control as to be impossible). They will cover the player fines if Juve bend on the terms of an exit deal. The player? Rock meets hard place.

Nah mate, unless there is a genuine cause, its massively unprofessional and a major red flag.

Ive gone right off him now, good player that he is, i think we should now steer clear.

Aye recalled that one mate, but that wasn't directly as Moyes was trying to sign him.

I think it would be unusual for Moyes MO for a player to go AWOL/on strike when we're trying to sign him. I can't recall him ever signing a player for actual money when they've done that is all.
Was it as much a thing 20 years ago? I can't really remember it actually happening that much back in the day though this may be because Moyes never went for them and transfers werent such a 24/7 online thing, now it's part of modern day football and conduct is not as gentlemanly. What I do remember is Moyes signing head the balls like Van Der Meyde and Drenthe.

Whether it was directly for moyes is kind of irrelevant given we do not know if its directly for Moyes this time. But he spent a near club record fee on a player that repeatedly went on strike to force a move. It wont be a deal breaker for him.

Hes a good player mate - hed improve us.

But a big investment.

Danny posted a heap of stats about Luiz being very good at Villa - it begs the question why did they let him go, i know they had PSR issues, but they could have moved on a lot of players.

Hes lasted 12 months at Juve.

While he didn't cut it at CIty either.

Then he goes missing today - its very unprofessional.

Seems to be a bit of boom and bust inconsistent cycle, while it doesn't seem that hes convinced m/any managers hes a keeper for the long term.

That seems to be a bit of trend there to my mind - certainly a question if i was dong my due diligence.
Yep, and Unai Emery is no fool of a Manager.

Yep, even taking into the account the Moyes era equivalent of 40m was like 8m. I actually can't think of any known nobheads we signed apart from them 2

Gibson? Pienaar? and I know Moyes never signed him but Dunc was hardly a model pro either.

I don't think Moyes minds a few 'characters' in the dressing room. It's hard to control every aspect of a players life. I suspect he'll give people a chance if there's ability, and a willingness to train and be available. VDM and Drenthe never did that for any great period, he still tried to give them opportunities though.

Indeed. I agree, can be an agent move when club are demanding too much for the player

Yep, and Unai Emery is no fool of a Manager.

He'd played 5 seasons at Villa.

Villa desperately had to sell him for Profit and Sustainability Rules - it was the same summer we had some PSR shenanigans with them with Tim Iroegbunam and Dobbin.

He's never a journeyman. Man City signed him as a teenager. Loaned him out. He never played a game for them. Sold to Villa. 5 seasons. Sold for big money to Juventus.

We're turning our noses up at players who cant play for Man City as a teenager, or Juventus?

Didn't he do this before or am i imaging it? I'm sure its all smoke and mirrors from agents + clubs to get an agreement with the other club and i honestly don't know where he is heading. I hope not to us after this.

Never really know the reality - could also be selling club posturing to justify a sale.

We've done it enough over the years, any big sale from Everton is 9/10 a JUDAS

The manager who played him every single game?
I said in the transfer thread I think he’s a top player.
If his temperament is suspect then I’d be cautious. If it’s true he’s forcing a move I’d be concerned.
The operative words being - if it’s true.
To be fair to him, when you see him on the pitch he doesn’t look the snide horrible type who would cause problems.
If he’s been waiting for better offers sack it. Move on to someone else.
