Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Does Granit Xhakas move to Sunderland open the door for Dan Neil to make the move to Everton? some seem to think so, we were linked with him back in January, he has a year left on his contract, so perhaps Sunderland will want to sell him this summer before he walks for free next year.

based on his age i dont think he goes for free even at the end of his contact does he, as long as they offer him a new one (like we messed up with gosling) they would get a significant fee at a tribunal, maybe theyd rather roll the dice on staying up

I swear this
What’s the deal with Xhaka? Because I think he’s a really good player. Loves to do something stupid, but unless his legs are gone, that’s a really good signing for Sunderland.
grest signing, apparently wants to move back to the UK. Hardly missed a game for an unreal Leverkusen.

He's 23 now so by the time his contract is up he'll be eligible to move for free.

There is value in that older player market but we've tended to recruit the wrong ones over time. I'm not including Young in that because I think we got exactly what we paid the wages for with him.

Xhaka also isn't that old as well so it is a very decent signing for Sunderiamd.

We just signed Thierno Barry for our CF position so we have two competent footballers in Beto and Barry competing for that spot which both looks at the current period and future of the club and that position. Chermiti going on loan and an experienced striker coming in to be that third choice would also be forward planning as it would in an ideal world give Chermiti valuable experience and minutes that he needs to develop and wouldn't get at Everton.

Realistically, if we are going to sign another CF it's either going to be a free signing or a loan move in my opinion.
Would prefer a late loan move for a utility player who could play up front or maybe out wide and might have played with us before and maybe from Brazil.... dont want to pay 50m for him though 😎

Is it time to start panicking?
I wouldn’t say panic, but it’s obvious there’ll be no more signings for a couple of weeks. The squad and management fly off to the States tomorrow so no business will be done until their return. If a player was signed he’ll miss the pre-season training and the pre-season matches and we’ll have the excuses ready for a poor start to the season by saying the players missed pre-season! It worked every other season.
