Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

You'd wonder what the remaining budget is. How many more £25m-£30m signings could we afford? I'd guess 2. And have funds leftover to do loan deals?

Obviously there are some funds available and it's because of that primarily I expect to see more players arriving. Just when is the case.

I imagine TFG don't provide easy sign-off on deals and they will clearly want value for money. It would be very hard to envisage funds being left unused though, on the basis they couldn't attract their targets, and couldn't find any others worth pursuing.

Unspent cash / failure to invest would be quite the irony for Moyes of all people, and would be a bad look for Kinnear. So if nothing else, I see that money, whatever it amounts to, being disposed of eventually, or the lions share of it.

And they'll be busy in the loan market but again here, deals may not be possible until very late.

TFG must be taking an interest from afar. To be a fly on the wall on their conference calls.

All very good points and unlike previous windows it won't be lack of budget that might be avaiable, moreso we still have a PSR ceiling over us, without having PSR issues per se, until commercial revenues increase far beyond current levels we will still be limited what we can spend rather than the skint scenario post Carlo.

Quite right as you czn imagine TFG wanting minor oversight You can possibly also imagine reports going in to the owners from the transfer team via the Executive Team at key points in the process.

TFG want to make Everton a profitable entity amd they will not get there by keeping the wallet shut. If Hammond and Kinnear do struggle to get deals done, it will be them in the firing line amd the owners will have largely unhappy fanbase, potentially a manager considering his future and broken promises to key players.

DM has set out his wants, the owners their strategy, even if no definite promise to fans laid out directly.

We of cpurse know little to fully trust TFG but it seems unlikely, although still possible, that the 'not done side' for this window will be larger than the 'got done' list .

Great, looks the penny is starting to drop. So you accept there is a finite number of players for each position that we want/need. 3 conditions need to be satisfied in relation to the signing of each player we want/need. They then need to be available right now, at a price we are prepared to pay and the players needs to be willing to sign right now. Unless all 3 of those conditions apply there is no possibility of a transfer. All 3 of those conditions are ultimately beyond our control unless we are willing to pay over the odds in terms of wages/transfer fee.
That's cleared that up then.

We won't sign any players we don't want or need.

I feel educated Kev.

If we end up signing Jack Harrison in August mate will you be able to assure us on here that he must have been one of the players we really REALLY wanted and had to bide our time to sign?

Would prefer someone like Vardy etc. as an experienced choice but don't mind Antonio. We need a third striker and if we can get someone on a one year deal while Chermiti can get a loan then it's sensible.
So you'd be happy seeing Antonio playing for us when we're chasing a game and need a goal as that would be his role off the bench? So much for a new dawn!

Fine with me. People need to be realistic about this first season of this new chapter. It's not going to be full of FM wonderkids.

Worth noting that Antonio is someone Moyes knows very well and persisted with over their shiny striker signings.

I don’t think it’s too much fans wanting more players and onboarded before the beginning of a new season where we’ve got points we can pick up from a relatively gentle start. It’s hampered us past few seasons and set the momentum against us.

Until we’re in a position with a settled competent squad I’ll assume we can’t let games slip as those points might be needed to keep us up at the end of the story. Be nice to change that narrative this season like.

I'm not expecting fireworks in all honesty but the start of a long term plan and vision to get us where we want to be going forward. Signing the likes of Antonio or Coufal is screaming no forward planning just plugging gaps

It’s the 22nd July and we have 16 senior players on the books, I don’t think there is any forward planning going on for the men’s team as it stands. Probably waiting for the gardening leave lads who conveniently join in September.
