When you have lived in a garden shed last year you can't expect to move to a palatial mansion the following year.

A neat neighborhood home with decent schools for the kids and a good public transport system will do nicely.

A squad that’s not even thread bare off for bonding trip overseas whilst missing in at least 6-8 positions.

Poor from the club, probably end up sacrificing games at the start of the season.

I'd sooner lose the first three games and sign the best combination of players we can afford/attract. Remember how long the Kanchelskis saga dragged on for? Absolutely ages. Glad we stuck with it and didn't go for our back-up option.

We have seen that in recent years, signing players was easy, unfortunately it meant throwing money at clubs.
We paid Swansea 45m for Sigurdsson because it was clear Koeman wanted him at any price.
We probably overpaid by at least 15m.

Great, looks the penny is starting to drop. So you accept there is a finite number of players for each position that we want/need. 3 conditions need to be satisfied in relation to the signing of each player we want/need. They then need to be available right now, at a price we are prepared to pay and the players needs to be willing to sign right now. Unless all 3 of those conditions apply there is no possibility of a transfer. All 3 of those conditions are ultimately beyond our control unless we are willing to pay over the odds in terms of wages/transfer fee.

Look Mike, let me try to explain. People don't want us to end up signing people like Harrison, Maupay, Broja, Rondon, Dele etc, so they want us to wait til the end of the window, you know like we did when we signed Harrison, Maupay, Broja, Rondon, Dele etc. Simple.

Because the selling club and/or player may have decided by that time that Everton is their best option. Or they may be unwilling to sell until they found a replacement. Or they may be on a tour of Japan. There are loads of reasons.
