Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I hope we sign some of our top quality targets later in the window lids. I’ve been told we must wait for our top targets, so if Jack Harrison rocks up in the last few weeks of the window I’ll start to have doubts about that strategy mates.

I totally agree, and that is exactly how we were playing (and playing well) in the second half of last season.

I think for this system to work better we need a LB who is close to the same level as Myko defensively but leagues better going forwards, and we need to accept that our RF/RW/RM will be less effective than N'Diaye no matter who it is, because of the defensive responsibility.

BUT I can see Kubo working well in that RM/RF role because of his exceptional work rate.

But then we'd also need to find Leighton Baines re-incarnate lol.

100% mate, the other thing that would help us at full back would be our wingers asking more question of the oppotition full back particularly down the right hand side. To many times last season the opposition full back could get down our right hand side, for the overload, which essentially meant we needed our right winger to be a hybrid full back, enter Jack Harrision.

If we have more threat down down the flanks, we isolate the opposition full back to defensive duties and create distance between the opposition full back and winger. Hopefully thats something we are thinking about. ;)

Why is it easier mate? Because the players cost less? But then isn’t the women’s team budget smaller?

Because the players cost less, because transfers are cheaper, because there are fewer comparable leagues to the WSL than the PL and therefore fewer clubs in the market for the calibre of player we’re after.

The clubs that are there internationally invest less time and effort in scouting, tracking and attempting to sign the best players.

The difference is enormous.

Budget-wise, it’s far cheaper and far easier to dramatically improve the women’s team. It makes absolute sense to me that the Friedkins are trying to do that right now.

The thing that Jake enables though is the ability to go to a back five if required when hes at full back and we have required it in certain games, its like a hybrid full back/centre half role mate.

Thats not to say we dont need a right full, we do, but Jake offers us something a bit unique as well.

The other thing is - is Jake really going to get a starting spot at centre half, over Branthwaite and JT - all fit I'm not sure he is - so what do you with him then.

The other thing im thinking is if Tete was plan A, i dont think someone like Coufal is very far down the list and if we had to do something like that for a year out necessity, id be open minded with Jake at right full and have a look it again next summer when we dont have half a team to bring in.

Might just be one of those compromises, this summer.
It's good to have his versatility and he's done well but he's a CB first and foremost. Like I said, it's harsh for him if he does become a backup but a natural RB is a better fit and a better option moving forward into the future. We also need a RB anyway because we have Coleman who isn't reliable and Patterson who is both unreliable and hasn't shown the quality yet to suggest he can be a competent PL RB. It's a squad game at the end of the day and JOB will be part of the squad as a CB/RB backup or RB starter this season but we definitely need another RB, whichever form they come in (Starter or backup).

Hes not really a journalist though is he. Hes a correspondent isnt he, theres a big difference.

The people he knew at the club during his time there are long gone by now. He was here for 8 months in 2013 and before that 5 years in 1996-2001.

I massively doubt he has any connections at everton that would be giving him insider information.

I think he's is a nice guy and likes to engage with fans and placate them where he can (because god knows the clubs doesn't). Hes pretty much still doing his director of comms for everton for free.

But hes not got any information and has unfortunately became a bit of a meme. With his constant "thats not what im hearing" shouts on social media.
I think that this summer more than any other there is just no information coming out of Everton . I think Alan Myers probably has as many contacts as anyone and I believe that he is more likely to get information than most but couldn't share anything worthwhile even if he did get some as it would probably lead directly to his contacts. I think he is more useful for shutting down rumours than letting us know who we are trying to sign.

In my opinion there is no doubt we are talking to clubs about players and maybe even have bids made but certainly the silence is deafening.

You would expect leaks from players and agents even if not from the club.

Don’t understand why so many want to dismantle half of a defence that was champs league level.

You’ll be the first people complaining when we start leaking goals after bringing in more attacking fullbacks who aren’t at the level needed to defend to the same standard. If we get a great right winger and CM\AM I think we’ll shoot up the table.

We do need more options for fullback but I think dropping Myko and O’Brien is a big mistake.
