Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Brining in a new left back would be a great balancing signing for the squad.

It’s been annoying me more then right full to be honest.

We also need to keep Myko honest he’d benefit from some real competition and to develop some consistency, he’s either brilliant or a liability, I’d settle for a 7 from him most games instead of the 9 or 5 he posts in player ratings, he’s prone to huge swings in form.

We all in on the Moroccan Roberto Carlos lids?

….born and raised in Spain, was at Barcalona.

I've been really impressed as JOB as a RB and don't think it's a bad option, but it shouldn't be a long term one, that's all.
Be great giving JOB a season as a solid RB to further his development, but covering and learning at CB whenever possible, IF we got a disgustingly pacey, not interested in defending RW to play in front of him and score 10+.

But if we go with a right side of JOB and McSlow, then it’s pointless for him and madness for the squad.

I often feel a bit sorry for Myko. He's been unfortunate in following Baines whose a premier league GOAT at left back and Digne who that FSW should never have been allowed to flog.

He very rarely gets done defensively and he's not terrible going forward he's just not at their level.

In and ideal world him as back up to a real top tier left back would be no bad thing.

I think it's harsh on JOB to be relegated to first backup for RB and CB but we have to assess what's best for the starting 11 in the now and the long term future. A proper RB is better for now and the future if we can get it.

Hes been a great servant mate and like so many hes been asked to play in difficult circumstances with little support, i think hes played an incredible amount of football both for us and Ukraine - prob more then he should have. I think a bit of support and competition will do him the world of good. I think he does need develop better consistency though, but i beleive we are culpable within that to.

Conversely to the above, id have a look at his position overall if im honest, is it one we could improve - probably, he's at the age and position with is value to the club now were we would get a good fee for him and we need to make a decision on him sooner rather then later - hes out of contract next summer.

Baines's dont come along every day or even every generation unfortunately, we were spoilt.

Myers is a professional journalist. That isn’t rumour, it’s fact. Worked for Sky Sports for donkeys years, and worked inside Goodison for more years than I care to remember. For people to think this bloke doesn’t have a clue what’s going on and hasn’t got good contacts, is absolutely nuts because he absolutely has. The issue is people want information from him and want all the details which he’s obviously not going to do so people take umbrage with him. He won’t know everything going on obviously, and when he says he doesn’t know he gets stick for that as well. People talk about him like he stacks shelves at Tesco and knows no more than anyone on here. Bonkers.

Hes not really a journalist though is he. Hes a correspondent isnt he, theres a big difference.

The people he knew at the club during his time there are long gone by now. He was here for 8 months in 2013 and before that 5 years in 1996-2001.

I massively doubt he has any connections at everton that would be giving him insider information.

I think he's is a nice guy and likes to engage with fans and placate them where he can (because god knows the clubs doesn't). Hes pretty much still doing his director of comms for everton for free.

But hes not got any information and has unfortunately became a bit of a meme. With his constant "thats not what im hearing" shouts on social media.

Agreed. I'm not one who thinks we can clear all the teams above us in one mighty bound, or have two full good first teams in the squad. I do think, though, that having a few players who can make a good case for starting 11 selection stuck as back ups is what we should be aiming for if we're gonna be top 10 competitive.

RB search is over we’ve got the man for the JO’B.
I’m more than happy with that. You can’t not play Tarkowski if he’s fit. There’s a reason we had an excellent defensive record with the Tarkowski/Branthwaite partnership.

O’Brien needs to play also and he looked more than solid when Moyes brought him in at right back. He even got up and down the right wing on occasions!

A backline of Pickford, Mykolenko, O’Brien, and Tarkowski/Branthwaite centre back pairing gives us a rock solid foundation.

We also have Patterson, Coleman (when fit) and Garner can also fill in to give us right back options. Ok people might not like those options and that’s a different argument, but they’re still right back options.

We don’t currently have any other left back option other than Mykolenko so there’s an argument there that left back cover should be more of a priority.
