Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

We’re not getting relegated, ah that’s okay then. Jeez.

Absolute drivel.
Sorry, i thought i was talking to reasonably intelligent people who'd just got their knickers in a twist and could have sense talked into them.

Turns out i was completely wrong, wont try that again.

As things stand, Sunderland, Leeds and Burnley are more equipped to deal with a full premier league season than we are.

Lay off the crack.

How are they more equipped to deal with the season then we are? They dont even have a PL level team.

We had Alcaraz last season?

Is going into a league season with 15 senior players the sign of a well run club?

Thats what well run clubs do. Bring in a player to replace a player before you get rid of the player so the replacement is there ready to step up.

We have over 20 senior players on the books

I really don't think these things happened. As far as i'm aware we just triggered the option in the Alcaraz deal, for the set amount already agreed in January. Barry had a release clause but there's been nothing whatsoever to suggest Villarreal were ever seriously asking anyone to pay it. I don't say those things to criticise or moan, i'm just saying let's not create this narrative that we're being real hard negotiators now based on nothing.
I'm going off more Kinnear has a reputation for it mate from the past.

We've seen what happens when we just pay up what's asked and we end up with Klassen and Gbanim etc. the head of recruitment now is the city bloke who worked with Moyes here before so again a good negotiator - city out the sky clubs honestly tend to not overpay to the same extent by far as the others.

I'm just confident that Moyes will be backed by TFG to a large degree this summer.

Imagine building a 600 mill Stadium, charging the fans thousands for season tickets and hundreds for premium match day experiences and we left it too late and we only brought in Harrison, Coufal and Soucek. Haha. Pretty sure there would be murder.

Can see us bringing in 3 or 4 top players still, but we're taking an obscene amount of time to get things done.

Interesting point. This is what may well happen. It probably means more frayed nerves and delays if and when we have to move down our list of options and preferences. There is also a risk the players in question may not like being a backup and/or been kept hanging. But I guess if you're making a new / fresh approach not so much.

For me it's always been about the quality of the fallback options knowing that we will not be a draw for at least some of our preferred targets.

If that's how it's turning out in reality then about now is the time to start making contact for those players. It doesn't take long to figure out where you stand with the likes of Luiz, and whilst he is a decent player, it's not as if he makes an earth-shattering signing.

Thing is for all we know both Luiz, Kubo and Mcatee could have given the nod and it's down to negotiating with the clubs the exact fees etc.

Unlikely yup, but none of us right now know
