Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Honestly I have no idea how much we can afford this summer, I know PSR isn't a factor this time around.

Just going off Roma, first summer they spent roughly 100m net, given the Italian league generally tends to spend a lot less than maybe can hope for around 150m or so. In the current market though how much quality does that bring in if it's spread around good numbers.

I would say we will do 150m net. It ties in with what we can do PSR wise (I would say we can probably get 200m PSR wise).

In fairness I've been saying we had huge wriggle room from July for a while. It's funny that supposed experts, like Keiran Maguire saying we are quite close. We are not. You do wonder how well versed the experts and wider media are on this stuff.

That's not a good position to be in towards the end of July

And I don't like the signs that this is again heading until the last week of August to do significant business. I wanted to see the end of that strategy.
A lot of the time that can't be helped. It's great to get deals over the line quickly, but ultimately the better deals get done late in the window when prices drop and other deals are done so the domino effect happens.

Our problem, of course, is that we need more players than usual and that adds a level of apprehension for all of us, but it doesn't change the reality we are in - expect we will spend decent money on 3 players and then try and loan another 2 or 3, but clubs string things along waiting for better deals and players and their agents do the same. It's frustrating, but unless you're a club like Liverpool/City/etc who can afford to pay asking prices early doors, for most of the rest of us it's a waiting game. If you look around the rest of the league, we've probably done at least as much business as the other middling teams.

That is the question though.

If we want to bring in three starters and 2 "young but plenty of potential upside" players, then I'm guessing 30M per player for the three starters and 2 smaller fees (loan with options to purchase); it's not going to be easy.

We need another primo CF if Chermiti goes out on loan.

We were DCL, Beto, Broja, Chermiti.

We’re now 1 down on that, potentially 2 with Leeds still tracking Beto.

We are missing a younger CM Gana Gueye type & box to box beast 8.

RW is an obvious hole.

Both full backs require upgrades.

29 days to go until Elland Road. It’s a massive job for the Club to get us set up correctly if we want any hope of finishing top 10 or Europe.
We aren't going to sell him to Leeds. Hell be our starting CF.

I don't really see what other clubs are doing as an excuse for our lack of business - as you said, we need far more players than these clubs.

I keep going back to how poorly organised our pre-seasons have been. We haven't won an August league game since 2021 and that is largely down to how we go about recruitment and preseason IMO.

We need at least 4 more senior players in by the first game and then can bring a couple more in by the end of the window. It can't be one more in over the next 4 weeks, then 4 or 5 in late August. The last week of the window needs to be about adding the final player or 2 to the squad.

So basically, one starting CF, one with possible potential, one always injured, and one was absolute rubbish.

Now we have Beto, Barry and Chermiti, which for me is already a massive upgrade on last season.
