Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

It's interesting because. a few of those have seemed close to deals over last 3 weeks, then little or no news.

Almost as if deals are never as close as sometimes reported.

Plenty on a downer with Moyes, Everton, the recruitment team, the owners, certain players that have taken a new contract.

It appears to be a quagmire if you look at those concerns in isolation. Up the proverbial creek, in for a terrible season, missed the boat again scenarios.

Luiz I have had my doubts we could do the wages let alone him saying yes. McAtee is a young lad with a lot of potential suitors. 2 players I don't think we would get anyway all told, 2 missed out on and a handful we didn't go for that would have improved. us.

The RW is the position though. We need the others but we are not winning regular PL games without one. They need to do it, I bet they want to do it. Over to Transfer Central to perform.
Absolutely spot on mate

He isn't a wide player though, that's an awful lot of money to spend on a player who isn't really the right one.
I know that plenty of people rate McAtee but
a) is he what we need ?
b) is he worth an inflated fee ?
c) I know he has played for City , but he would have to become a focal player for us , at that fee , and I feel that there is a massive gap between age restricted internationals , and the premiership
d) where would we play him as I don't think that he is pacy enough to play wide right ?

Pickford the only signing we got right in that window. His brilliance balancing out the mad waste of all of the others

Different example £28mill for Lukaku, was mind blowing fee wise at the time, was peanuts considering we sold him for £80 mill.

With recruitment you have to manage two resources talent and value. X and Y.

Take Barry, we’ve signed him for what £27 mill - that’s a judgement, we’re judging he can develop into a striker capable of double digits in this league and impact us (talent) , but we are also judging he’s a player we can sell for £50-£60 mill in three years (value).

Same with McAtee, our judgement will be he can improve us now (talent) for £35 mill, but also a player who we can sell for £50\60 mill in three years time (value).

These signing are investments as opposed to anything - talent now and impact us into the short to medium term, value to be realised into the long term.

We’ve invested 6 mill a year in wages in Branthwaite (talent) to sell him for £70 mill (value)

And so the wheel turns.
