Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

My worry is that when you've got such a small pool of players, its inevitable we'll pick up a couple of injuries. We always do.

We're not only missing quality which is abundantly obvious, we're seriously missing depth.

I'm sure there is lots of work going on behind the scenes but there's no way of dressing it up and saying 2 pre season games in and about to jet off to the States and we've brought someone in (Alcaraz) where the negotiations must have been pretty straight forward, a back up keeper and a striker who will need to be given time to settle (though I'm sure will instantly jump ahead of Chermiti).

I don't think its ideal at all watching the right back playing left back (2nd half against Accrington) and watching the slug Mcneil getting a lot of minutes right wing when he's pretty crap in his best position, let alone moving him there.

We needed upgrades on Mykolenko, Garner, right back and Mcneil for starters, so they become the squad fillers.

Lots of work to do and a big work load for the current players available.

The momentary Myko injury yesterday should have really made the whole club go “crap we need another LB” if they weren’t already aware. There isn’t even one in the youth side.

You can see a plan? You have to be kidding lol

McAtee? A coup?

Sigh...

Yes its clear really

Moyes chooses player.
Hammond negotiates
Kinnear signs off

= Failure of a window so far.

It has been a failure so far. Not sure how it could be argued otherwise?

Weve not improved the 11.

Weve not brought in the numbers.

2 areas of failure.

Clue: Moyes is ALWAYS in charge.

Ofc Mcatee would be a coup to sign.

He's an exceptionally talented player who a lot of clubs are interested in

I think paying £27.5mil (plus add ons) was an overpayment for Barry.

I also think paying £4mil for Travers was an overpayment.

Its been made public knowledge that both Wesley and Truffert were moves by Thelwell in January...seemingly they were 2 that Moyes rejected.

If he is able to reject 2 attacking full backs of 21 and 23 years of age then he is directly accountable for the signing of superior players this window.

I'd have been thrilled (yes actually thrilled) and excited to watch them both playing for us. Very disappointing.
The two fb do look decent options but dont think we over paid at all for both barry and travers. First barry is just the average price for an u21 striker who has shown talent esp when a prem team comes in. Travers for 4 mill is a great price imo could get other options on a free but with his age we would have a great chance if we did decided to move him on to make profit on him.
