Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Wouldn’t surprise you with Moyes, not throwing in new signings straight away. One thing I would say, if that’s the starting 11, then he need to drop someone for Harrison Armstrong

Cant see Moyes dropping Garner for Armstrong.

The interesting thing would be that we actually have Gana/Iroegbunam & Garner/Armstrong but yet we all know two things:

1: We need a better starter than Garner
- So should we sign someone or see if Armstrong steps up and makes the position his own this season?

2: We need a replacement for Gana and Iroegnunam doesnt seem to have the quality.
- Do we sign a better u21 player (another Armstrong) to try to take Gana's place over the season? Or try and get by with Iroegbunam?

We’ve got to build a squad for the season and for the future, not just for the tour of America or even for the first game of the season.

If that means holding out for players that are in our budget, will consider us and will improve us then that’s what needs to happen.

Who have you seen move so far to other teams that fit that bracket ?

Do you think top players transfer values decrease over the window? The less time a selling club has to replace them, you think the lower they sell for?

That doesnt appear to be the case.

Not to mention that playing practice games with no natural right winger...well that kind of defeats the purpose of practicing doesnt it?

Which other teams have a squad of 15 players? I’ll keep asking this until someone answers it btw.

Were closer to 20 now, though im not counting the cheerleader and surely some will go on loan / be sold.

The squad players i could understand leaving it late and going for unwanted types on loan. But those to come into our first eleven?

Should be in already...not even one?

Genuinely interested to hear people’s thoughts on why Moyes has not provided any post match comments after the last two friendlies? Twitter is awash with PL managers discussing their teams run outs and what recruitment is needed etc

Is it a case of keeping everything tight to avoid anything getting out?

Or

Is Moyes becoming disillusioned/angry by the pace of recruitment and been told ‘if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all’

Either way, it’s unusual.

You know, I'm pretty confident that Moyes is in charge of recruitment for this window.

It is unusual.

The only time I remember Moyes kicking off in a pre season was maybe 08-09 (might be a year out either side).

Kenwright shut him up by giving him a new deal at the time but he is capable of of showing his frustration.

I can only imagine he’s not happy I mean why would you be, he’s come back to win and so far he’s not being provided the tools to do so.

He’s probably thinking I best say nothing, but it is a little unusual why he hasn’t given any post match comments.

Moyes will talk when it suits him. He’s not some fresh faced young hipster manager desperate to get his face known. If he has something to say, good or bad, he will say it when he judges it to be appropriate.

Whats he going to say?

"I've torpedoed Thelwells picks in January. I've effectively got him moved on.

Now I've had since January to select players to approach, both prior to and as soon as the window opens...

...i've done nothing".

Is that what you reckon he'll say?

Or do you REALLY believe Moyes doesnt have a major say on transfers?

What else do you think is essential Mike? LB cover / upgrade and maybe a 10? Beyond that, it’s about getting players in who are better than what we have for me, which will take time.

I think Armstrong will establish himself this year, seems to have progressed enough for that to be likely. Irobugnam will also kick on.

Why will getting in players "take time"...

You sound like a club plant.

We definitely need 2 central midfielders, 2 wingers, 1 right back and 1 left back as a bare minimum imo.

This will "take time". The global superstars will magically become available and all want to sign for Everton...

...on the last day of the window".

lol
