Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Have just got back from seeing a very famous Japanese musician, vast majority of the crowd was Japanese.
Counted 5 Kubo #10 japan shirts and that was just in my section of the balcony. Didn’t see any Mitoma shirts, only Kubo.

He's a top player but think the commercial aspect of this deal could be huge. He would sell a LOT of shirts and give us a big Japanese fanbase.

Whenever I’ve seen him out wide I’ve not been a fan. However, he is good playing off a striker.
Yeah i do feel we could do a loan in that postion also not to sure what be the price for him. Do feel alot of stuff like the links to him just an easy option to say we have been looking at them

We are well behind where we need to be with recruitment.

Less than a month now to be prepared for the new season and the squad is currently nowhere near ready to compete.

Need to see at least a couple of signings by the start of August. Points in August matter as much as every other month and I want to see far better pre seasons and far better recruitment moving forward.

Hopefully now have the people in place who can take advantage if we do sign him.

If youre picking a team and you have Illy on the left, would you pick McNeill or Fellows mate?
I'd have N'Diaye as a number 10 as I think he'd score more and help create many more chances for a CF - so few instances when you will see an Everton player run into the box from a central position with the ball at his feet, committing defenders and looking to play short passes to CF or one two's. And I'd definitely be happy with McNeil on the left and Fellows on the right. And even better if they both had attacking, overlapping FBs supporting them - which Moyes allows incidentally (unlike Dyche)

I don’t think Illy works at 10 mate, I actually don’t think he’s even a winger, he’s an inside forward.

Out wide Illy gets far more freedom, he generally has more space to operate in with less defenders then centrally in between the lines, ill also say Illy is more of a goal scorer and dribbler - he’s actually not a great creator for others. I don’t think he’s effective give at 10 despite the popular assumption.

As I said @bove, we need something different to what Fellows offers a Doak or Kubo, that creates to varying threats if Illy is in the left - so where do McNeill and or Fellows fit in support players and I think both offer to similar of a skill set, while Fellows has never done at this level to be pumping 12 mill into him in my opinion.

That would be my take.

They’ll know to the penny what city want, they always do. The point was just that it would seem odd to set up a meeting with the manager if we don’t actually intend to buy him, which is how the original post was framed.

I think this is quite straightforward mate. They won't bother drawing up and submitting a bid if after hearing what the club and manager has to say the player decides he won't be wanting to make the move here.

Some might call it tapping up, the reality of it is, it happens all the time, and it's quite apparent most clubs don't care, especially when they're actively trying to sell somebody, or happy for them to leave. I'm sure gentlemens agreements on stuff like this are common place. It would make no sense for them not to be, as agents can just ride roughshod over anything anyway, as can a rogue player.

And the next thing you know we’re big in Japan.

No I get all that, that’s obvious. I was just commenting on how the the original post was framed. If it said ‘Moyes met with mcatee but the indication was he’s not interested so it won’t go any further’ that would make sense. It just sounded like it was saying ‘Moyes met with mcatee but we’re probably not going to try to buy him’ which doesn’t make a lot of sense. Generally speaking you don’t get as far as making your manager meet a player unless the intention is to take it further.
