RB Leipzig

RBL Transfers

Oh, well Maksimovic was today then, arriving on a 5-year deal for €14m. Looks to be a CAM/winger type, plays a little like Cole Palmer, and very good numbers for his age last season. Bakayoko later today then? Or tomorrow? Or hijacked? Tune in for more.

RBL Transfers

Oh go on then, spoiling me, 3 transfers wrapped up in 24 hours! Bakayoko joins on a 5-year deal for €18m. Some forward line the Bulls have for next season (before sales anyway). Just a backup CB and I think that’s the squad sorted for now.

RBL Matchday

First pre-season game of the year kicks off with a short away trip for a charity match vs ZFC Meuselwitz (4th Division). Should be a pretty routine victory but looking forward to seeing how the team plays under Werner - lineup suggests either 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3. From the newbies, only Maksimovic (fitness) is missing, and Gomis from January sadly picked up an ankle injury and will be out for 5 weeks. Kick-off is 2.30pm but will save the game for after Everton's.

Well that was a very enjoyable 3-0 victory that should have been 12 with framework shots, keeper worldies and a missed pen. Two different XI's for each 45 mins and you can already see what Werner is wanting out of this squad: constant shouts of "tempo", "faster" and "less touches" was nice to see. Hard to evaluate squad right now as there will have to be sales but the front line is bloody terrifying and Diomande looks an amazing find already. The midfield trio is interesting as it's very clear one is a controller 6, one is more of a marauding 8 and then an attacking mid floating around.

RBL Matchday

Second friendly of the Summer with a tie against Toulouse so actual opposition to test against. Xavi and Sesko expected to play minutes (Xavi starting) even though both are close to leaving. Excited to watch the game though - last one was super fun! Nusa and Bakayoko start on the wings which will be fun. Hoping to see Maksimovic too second half.

2-0 (19)

First goal Schlager robs the defender and Openda slots in on the run, second goal Schlager scores back post from a deep cross. Offensively playing really well, defensively getting open up a little too easily.
