I wouldn't put it at a concerning level but maybe one more in at this point would have been good. So i think at this point we should be a little more advanced but not by much. I'd rather it takes a bit longer and get the right players in than the team rebuild be complete but full of Jack Harrison types.

Definitely should have gotten a right back my now. Right winger is the most important position. Getting one who could get close to 10 goals would be massive. Another quality centre mid is vital too

We have spent not far off £50m already but doesn’t feel like that. Probably cause Alcaraz was already here last year
And we held on to Branthwaite. This is the deal of the summer that has kept my pitchfork in the shed...for now.

I love Seamus - and when fit he's our best RB still. However he cant even be counted on to play successive games.
Exactly. But he's a symbol of club propaganda now. If we don't get a new right-back, not only will Jake be asked to plug gaps, but Seamus will be held up as a viable, iconic, alternative when Jake isn't available.

I'm happy to give our new recruitment people time to fill out the squad this summer, but the retention of Keane and Coleman was the first red flag of the summer for me. It doesn't smack of ambition and won't look as prudent as those in favour posited if we fail to strengthen adequately elsewhere. The Branthwaite retention calmed me. But we need incomings before August 1 before I can feel reassured that we are in good hands...

Better than Jake at RB still?

He’s finished in reality.

I’d play Jake there every time over an over the hill Coleman.

5 years ago maybe not. And I know Jake is really a CB before you tell me that startling fact.

It's like none of you have been through a David Moyes transfer window before. 3 new signings by mid July is fantastic for him.

I still voted we should have done more. TBH if we'd not had signed the goalie and Barrie but signed a RM/RF instead I think most people would be more alright with it weirdly - but getting players in order of position preference is not how transfers work.

As Kenny Rogers used to sing "You gotta know when to hold 'em." It likely fits the ethos of the Texan Friedkins too.

They will either produce the goods in the next fortnight or so, and receive much praise for their cunning, or it will largely diffuse into something of the "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss" variety.

This is the only thing I like about transfer windows - they have a defined beginning and end.

You have to put your cards on the table eventually. And soon we'll see the hand they have.

I'll stop there. Too many images of dagger looks, stetsons, cigarette smoke, and swinging saloon doors.
