VAR

Goal kick. Basically, after the pens taken it's a goal or, if saved it's a goal kick. Ball goes dead.
Bizarre. So they're changing the balance to give the defending team, the team that commited a foul in the box, a greater benefit?

Every new rule introduced makes football worse. It used to be a simple game. It's now an unnecessarily complicated game and I'm not sure who benefits from all of these changes.

I mean, who lobbied for this?

I have never heard anyone say they think it would be a good idea to rule out a goal scored after a goalkeeper parries a penalty kick and a fellow knocks in the rebound.

No one.

Ever.

This smacks of people sitting in a plush office thinking up daft ideas to justify his or her inflated salary.

Instead of bringing in new rules they should focus on fixing the rules they already have in place, and maybe start punishing teams that blatantly ignore the rules.

What next? If you don’t score from a corner or free kick then the game stops? Let’s just have it as a series of dull set plays like American Football. I’m sure Dyche would love it.
