Alcaraz had a poor game, I’ve not been fully convinced by him over a 90min game yet. Flatters to deceive a little imo. He should be a class above in a game like that but he was poor. I think it would be crazy to assess any player based on the first game of preseason. Alcaraz was MotM away at Newcastle not less than 3 months ago.

That's why he was £12m or so. Not the finished article but has something.

I thought he was OK, played some lovely first time passes but needs a recipient on the end of them. Set up Harrison for the shot he almost curled in.

Wasn’t an assessment based on just tonight, though he absolutely should be standing out against Accrington, I’m still seeing lots of inconsistency in his game. Maybe a reason he left Juve and Flamengo so soon, hopefully Moyes improves him

Normally I have difficulty following preseason games usually overpriced players going through the motions but tonight I really enjoyed watching the youngsters play especially Armstrong but great cameos by Heath and Clarke.

Football doesn’t work like that. I’ve seen some very average players stand out against lower league teams and great player have stinkers. He finished the season very well.

Was he playing on the left again though? He’s never looked particularly effective from there imo.
