If Villareal expected clubs to come in for Barry and pay the release clause next summer, they would have kept him. If they thought he will be a lot more worth in the future, they would have signed him up with a new contract and played him in Champions League next season.

Even those who have watched him a lot and rate him as a player, think Everton have paid silly money for him.

That doesn't mean he won't be good, but it is a massive gamble. With potential to become Everton's worst signing ever.

You know how foreign clubs try to sell players to the Premier League for wayyyyy more than they eventually sell to a continental team? Could the multi club model be a way to get around that? Have Roma or whoever buy the player at a reasonable price, loan to Everton for a season, sell for same price but Roma makes a profit due to the year gone?
