Confirmed Signing Mark Travers

Happy with this. He's always looked solid for Bournemouth and he's been capped 4 times for Ireland. To have two keepers capable of playing at a decent - good International level is the right track for the squad.
Also good to have a decent standard of goalies in the squad for training etc. A lot of people forget it's not just about what happens on the pitch on a match day. Good back ups raises everyone's level.

Really ?? I have liked what Ive seen of Jimmy, you can't put the last 12 months or so on him, He's been playing in a side that didn't attack for large parts. Was literally told to not be expansive but to keep it tight at the back, the whole team played like that. Give him a preseason with Moyes and let's see what we bought, with the leash off.
Ive said it many times on here mate, i think he is very unnoticeable on the pitch for a midfielder, he does everything ok but nothing good.
He puts a shift in ye but we need more quality.

Think he is a perfect squad player as he can cover a couple of positions but i dont want to see him in the starting line up every week.

Yup: mediocrity writ large.

Does a job - if that job is lower mid-table "respectability". When you have one destructive player in midfield (who adds little constructively), the other fella has to be creatively excellent. Garner just isn't. That's not his fault. Fans need to stop becoming attached to players who were only here because the club was a financial Angola.
Midfielders or good midfielders have a presence, he has zero.

We need better a lot better

Makes good sense this signing, feels like we’re fixing the roof while the sun is shining in terms of the goalkeeping position.

Better to sign a good solid backup on the cheap now rather than scrambling round looking for someone if anything happens to Pickford in pre season (similar to Onana at United) where teams know you’re desperate and have you over a barrel.

i think the only concerns people have/negativity is because we have so many areas that despeately need starting eleven players or cover and are much more expensive to recruit too, so £4mil on a position that is least likely ot be needed when there are plnety of free agents available seems a bit of a waste. I imagine it's also a hangover of us having nothing to spend for the last 4 years.

hopefully though it's a positive sign that we can afford to buy a GK, as well as a right winger(s), CM, right back, a left back and another forward who can play across the front
