Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

The starting XI is actually probably stronger with Barry coming in for Beto, but the issue as it stands is that one single injury anywhere on the pitch weakens us massively. I hope we have brought in at least 3 more good quality players by the time the first game comes around, not including the backup keeper.

Yeh and I’m sure we will do. Just have to pray for none of the usual pre-season friendly injuries.

I watch a lot of women's sport and usually enjoy it.

Generally at the top level the women make up for a lack of athleticism and physicality but having excellent technique.

I routinely play table tennis against top quality women's players . I like watching women's golf because quite frankly it's more relatable to how I and 90% of men play distance wise.

However football is in my humble opinion a massive exception to this "rule". Save for Lauren James and Leah Williamson the lack of decent technical skills in the England team is absolutely shocking. Spain have a couple of decent players but that's about it.

I had to laugh when I read an article suggesting that Mary Earps - "Mary Queen of Stops " ( how cringeworthy can you get ) had made goalkeeping " cool".

FFS .
We should probably ask "the black spider" Lev Yashin, the "security of defence" Tim Howard, "The great Dane" Peter Schmeichel, "The flying Spaniard" David De Gea or "The Octopus" Thibaut Courtois.

Absolutely fine not to watch it. There's just no need to slag it off or be misogynistic about it (not saying you were). It is what it is. The Lioness winning that euros has had a massively beneficial effect on the girls game in this country. More young girls playing sport can only be a good thing. Took my daughter to a competition yesterday with 10 under 9s teams. That wouldn't have happened 10 years ago. Her team plays against boys teams and regularly beats them. That will obviously stop happening as she gets older but great for their confidence now. A lot of men seem threatened by girls/women being involved in football for some reason.

The ladies are definitely getting better.
Good all around skills, goalkeepers let them down a bit.
At the younger level. 5 or 6 yr old when my lad was playing, there were a couple of girls who were really good one in particular who was one of the better players in the league for a year or two,
As the lads got bigger and stronger that came to an end , they were just to fast and strong.
I watch a bit of the ladies games and think it's come on really well the last few years, wouldn't have bothered watching a few years back
Good luck to anybody playing the game and enjoying it.

Thing is, we don't even know that about Barry. A total unproven quantity in this league, despite coming with a lot of promise.

At present the state of the squad is, frankly, disgraceful.

We need a huge turnover and so far we've brought in two.

If people aren't entertaining by bonmati then i can't help them

Most teams utilise the whole squad during games, we fell apart at the start of last season because even the weakest sides could make four or five subs.

So relying on the core 10 lads that done well might not work like you think.

We fell apart because we had injuries and we were managed by a dinosaur. Look at the side for the opener last season:

6 of those 10 outfield names don’t start against Leeds. We need players, definitely, but I’m not having this mindset our current XI would be forfeiting games.

Absolutely.
A first team should be really be considered at least 15 players these days.

It's a total mystery to me why the majority of PL teams voted the added substitute rule change through.

That @Aries fella payed to attend the Andrew Tate college on line a few years back.

Given the scale of the challenge, I think Moyes will have to use the full window until it closes on 1st September.

Whilst this maximises the chance of bringing in players (especially loans), it runs the risk of a slow start to the season.

Whoever was running the show the last few seasons definitely forfeited the first few games until the window shut. They put valuable points in the bin over a few quid.

My point is, with psr picture looking healthier, we shouldn't be risking losing games early on just to save a few million by waiting for deadline day deals.
