Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

His transfer Record since leaving Everton is very patchy
Moyes wasn’t in charge of transfers at West Ham. He had a say, but had to deal with board interference.

He wanted to sign Eze from the Chanpionship, for example, but David Sullivan wanted Benrahma. Guess who he ended up with….

When he actually got players he wanted (Bowen, Soucek, Zouma) they tended to be good.

I can understand if you're wetting the bed recent years we've not been ready for the start of the season. I have faith in Moyes and TFG to get us ready for the season.
part of me has confidence aswell, however with the amount of players we need and the length of time it took to get Barry over the line, I thought we would have come out of the blocks a bit quicker, it's not as if they have just started looking for players, we knew back in early April what was needed, once also confirming our premier status

Ask West Ham fans and you may find the above is incorrect :)
West Ham is a complicated club. The owner thinks he’s a better director of football than the guys who work for him. Sam Allardyce laid out the full details years ago. Managers get a few picks, but Sullivan insists on having his own too.

It’s a weird setup and part of why they always tend to struggle.

I have a mooch on their forum from time to time.

Their fans seem extremely calm.
They've bought into the system. Analytics based recruitment and tactics - there should be little transition between managers; players will be replaced from within, or with new unheralded signings. They're a fantastically well run club who will have a wonderful financial position to work from.

Moyes destroyed their finances but did well on the pitch.

Now the finances are still destroyed and he's left a squad which looks like a relegation fighting lopsided mess.

Their fans like Moyes and i think whoever told you that may be missing him.

How did he destroy their finances? They were actually in their best financial condition in years due to the European football money and the Declan Rice sale.

What screwed then was bringing in Tim Steidten, who squandered a lot of money on unsuitable players for the league, and Lopetegui.

For example, Moyes wanted guys like McTominay and Maguire, but Steidten acted as a road block. Instead he insisted they sign Mavropanos, who has been a big waste of money.

Moyes had one major summer splurge, but they made most of their money back on guys like Scamacca. Paqueta was going to be a big profit (85M City offer) but the move was called off due to his FA probe. Kudus has been a good profit (identified by Mark Noble and pushed for by Moyes).

Aguerd was a reasonably big transfer, but he was one of their best players in Europe and helped them win a trophy. He didn’t settle in England though.
