Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Do you not think we need another striker? I would 100% go for someone in their latter PL career who can super sub it. Then we can send cheemitti in loan.

Dunno who though, I don’t like Vardy, Wilson is too injury prone
I'd prefer three although we are conditioned to having chronically injured strikers and Beto has been pretty durable so far.

Would definitely like to see Chermiti go on loan.

Rather than an older striker I'd maybe go with someone like the lad from Millwall. Would be a risk but so would the likes of Callum Wilson with all his injuries and wages.

Lies, damn lies, and statistics! What about all the chances that he created that weren’t finished? I’m sure I read somewhere that those figures were huge. So in reality his figures could’ve/shoud’ve been higher.
I haven't seen the figures myself so I can't comment on them specifically but 'expected assists' should include all of that. It is the number of assists you would be expected to have got from all the chances you created. If you created a huge number of chances but had a very low expected assist figure, that would mean the quality of the chances you created was likely extremely low (ie you were knocking in set pieces that centre halves were nodding towards goal from 15 yards out or you kept laying the ball off to people who shot from 30 yards).

100% would be fine with that lad from Millwall… tell him that this is his chance to make the step up and all that.

I think Hackney has enough to make the step up, in a position where you can excel without being an a grade athlete.

fellows isn’t fast enough for me. I want someone blisteringly fast

Yeah that's my worry with Fellows. You only have to look at McNeil who has a fantastic delivery at times, but in the prem he barely beats a man or gets to the byline to whip in a cross. He looks as slow as McNeil. I think he'd contribute over a season but he's not going to take you to the next level.

Yeah the Barry one should open people's eyes a bit to the realities of these things. Generally speaking (there are obviously exceptions because everybody is different) playing in the PL is a much bigger draw than playing in the Europa League, and even bigger than playing in the CL for a team that isn't going to win it. Going to one of the English teams who have Europe is a bigger draw, as is going to one of the proper big hitters in Europe, but the reality is most players would choose Burnley even over someone like Ajax because the PL is where players want to be.
It's interesting to me because you see how some Evertonians view their own club...like we're some small time, after thought.

Everton are massive club even if our recent history doesn't suggest as much.

It depends whether there's enough minutes to go round. You don't really want to be signing a young striker like Ivanovic but then never playing him because it'll stunt his development. It also doesn't really make sense to do that if the idea of loaning Chermiti is that he comes back ready to play PL football, because then we end up with a bit of a logjam of strikers in their early 20s wanting to play.

I get what you mean but I think 1 season of being around a Premier league first team squad is valuable. Then you move 1 or 2 of them on in a year. Only works if he's cheap.

Correct, but Villarreal can hold other clubs to it if they don’t want to sell, and that is what they did. Can’t see how that has nothing to do with his value, that was literally the price we had to pay to buy him. Other Clubs didn’t think he was worth that.

He was locked into a 4 year contract worth £15,000 a week that he signed last summer.
He’ll be on at least 5 times that here, and it’s guaranteed for the next 5 years.
We didn't pay his release clause, that's why it's irrelevant. There are also plenty of reports that say other teams were interested, but apart from that you're doing great.

Anything more on Kubo?
At the age of seven, Takefusa Kubo started playing football for some local clubs in his hometown, Kawasaki. In August 2009, he was awarded the MVP at FC Barcelona Soccer Camp in which he participated at the age of eight. In April 2010, he was selected as a member of FC Barcelona School team and participated in Sodexo European Rusas Cup held in Belgium. He was awarded MVP even though his team finished third. After returning home, he began to play for the Kawasaki Frontale junior youth team.

The RW position is interesting. Seems Moyes wants a left footed dribbler to allow for cut in and shoot play - basing this off the fact that McNeil ended up there when he returned towards the end of the season.

However, a CF like Barry (or Beto) would surely thrive on crosses, so maybe a right footer is the play? I wouldn't be opposed to a couple of options. If Fellows is available at £15m then that covers one of them as he's a pure RW with a killer cross. Given it's such a squad game these days, he'd have time to bed in and work on the physical things our armchair experts are convinced he lacks.

Left footer? Maghnes Akliouche is the man. Rapido, ace dribbler, young and one move away from being worth £70m. Buy now at the right time and we've got a star who we can flip in a couple of seasons for £££

I think we should go for a player that can play either as a central striker or as a wide player, someone like Richarlison. If he is available for £20m, as it has been reported, we should be all over that. I know he has had injuries at Spurs but from an attacking perspective he improves us massively and I think Moyes will get the best out of him.
