Transfer Rumour Kyle Walker

Coleman will run through brick walls for our club, he loves us. I expect his influence on the whole squad is part of the reason for the extension. I doubt he will play that much to be fair.
I don’t see much difference between the two, Walker will play 90% more games than Seamus. He’s also won ten times more than Seamus. I know why we’ve kept him around but it says a lot about us when city are happy to ship him out after a trophy laden decade, doesn’t it?

Basically all of city's players have won a load of trophies there though, it's meaningless to them.

Coleman is the only player we have who brings what he does to the dressing room. Dont think that says anything terrible about us a club personally.

You see, this is the vague, nebulous bit that I am concerned about. What specifically does he bring?

It's so undefined as to be in the eye of the beholder.

I don’t think its vague at all personally. We're building an entire new squad this summer and he's been the club captain for well over a decade. He's responsible for helping players bed in, learn the culture of the club and making sure that the whole squad have their heads screwed on and are moving in the right direction.

As exciting as this summer is with all the potential incomings, it could also go badly badly wrong bringing in so many players at once. Give the armband to Jarrad next season, this year in my opinion Coleman is still needed as a leader in the dressing room.

I see the logic - but don't agree with it. It suggests Coleman should be employed as a player liaison officer or club usher.

Is he angling for a role in HR?

I can’t unsee this now!

Defo deserves one of these...

I remember Coleman giving one of his "up and at em" statements under Sad Frank, next match we lost miserably yet again.

Equally I can see your issue with this use of a wage. For me this is maybe the first season in our history where I can see a move like this being worth the money. Easy to scoff at but I do think that everything said by former and current players in regards to Coleman as a character and leader is genuine.

As for his future career prospects, he'll surely be part of the coaching staff next year.

Easy to say we've still been rubbish while having him around as we undeniably have.

Could have been a lot worse though imo when u look at the managers we've had. Benitez and Dyche I could confidently say were not motivating the players.

I'm not implacably opposed to Seamus. Heck, he's a great ambassador for my country - and the testimonials he receives from others prove that. I just want to see us move into a new era with a new culture, because, with the best will in the world, Seamus is a leftover from the Kenwrightism that has corroded this club and eaten it from within over the last 30 years. So, when I hear "Seamus gets the club" and all that soft talk, I fear it is the same snake oil that Blue Bill spent his life successfully duping a majority with.

Yes said before a player coach role would have been more suitable, we all love Seamus has been a fantastic servant for the football club.
