Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Re-signing Michael Keane isn't ideal but if Moyes wants him to provide additional squad depth for one more season is okay with me, along as we either obtain a younger player with intent of them acclimating this season or see a possible youth player that could be introduced to the first team, so by the end of season Keane would be a 5th choice central defender

But, to play devil's advocate, would you be saying the same if that £5-6m went toward the £7m we are supposedly looking to spend on Jack Harrison? Bad players are bad players mate, however you dress it up.

I look at it this way i look at a back up keeper mate, you need them, but you dont want to spend to much on them.

I dont think its one of the other - its more how much does Keane cost and how much would his replacement cost, without amoritsation Keane is compelling from a business point of view - if he's willing to play for want of a better words a" back up keeper" role.

The value alternative to my mind is someone like Craig Dawson, Coady or Jonny Evans and id prefer Keane.

Keane is genuinely the worst defender of the ones you mentioned there - and I wouldn't want any of them either. I really think people forget just how much of a liability Keane is. If he wasn't so good at scoring, he wouldn't get away with it.

He is Antolin Alcaraz bad. An absolute catastrophe, who will have one okay game in 5 and people will refer to him as steady. But it’s never that he is a bit off it in the other 4, at least 2 of them will be absolute disaster classes.
