Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Wages are temporarily down as we have no players. And there are still 2 years of crap accounts on the books.

The 2 years of crap accounts add up to something like a Ā£50m PSR loss don’t they? If we lose over Ā£50m this financial year coming which is what we’d need to to breach PSR, with a women’s team to sell and hugely inflated stadium revenue, then something somewhere has gone seriously wrong.

A bit early to be speculating on transfers. We’ve 14 senior outfielders available for pre-season. That’s loads. I expect some activity round the end of August. Meanwhile Chelsea have completed theirs and added half as many players as we actually have to their squad.

We only know one of those years, 23/24.

24/25 just ended so we don't know how we fared last season yet.

And then obviously don't know what they will be in the current year.

We need a RB (who can get forward), CB (cover for JoB and Tarks), a CF, 2 x CM. Ideally right winger, too.

That's 6 players, mostly who'll be first choice if decent, with approx 5 weeks to prep for an away game in front of Leeds who'll be bang up for it.

Crack on TFG and Davey boy, crack on.

Why is it I feel the starting XI for that game is already:

Pickford
Coleman, Tarks, JoB, Myko
Garner, Gueye, Tim Iroegbunam, Ndiaye
Alcaraz, Beto.

Mcneil on bench. + Any reserves good enough / ideally adult age/ with match fitness.
You left out the lad who signed a contract until 2030 there mate....

He's probably our best player

In fairness I don't think anyone was suggesting that we were in trouble with PSR, only that it may not have completely gone off the radar and we might not have huge amounts of money to throw around. The noises we've heard from the club certainly suggest that to be honest - I'm going to be quite confused as to why we've offered new contracts to Keane, Young, Doucoure, Coleman etc and are messing about trying to sign Kenny Tete if we've actually got £300m to play with.

Surely there must be north of £100mil the way Moyes is talking

Not read that yet but I remember him as a hard tackling player. I'd suspect he's the Gana replacement, as hes gradually phased out.

Edit: just found this

talentscout

Morten Frendrup in Serie A 24/25:

šŸ’„ most tackles won - 78

āš”ļø 6th most duels won - 128

🄷 7th most interceptions - 31

23 years of age. The Danish vacuum in Genoa's midfield. šŸ”“šŸ”µšŸ‡©šŸ‡°

Would have to be a gana replacement.

Players like that leave gaps that other teams exploit so having him and gana in the team would be a absolutely kamikaze style midfield.

Would need a proper number 6 to sit while he pressed. Which im all for a younger gana whos comfortable on the ball and can pass would he a amazing signing

I have absolutely no idea to be honest. There needs to be really with everything that needs doing, but I won't pretend to have the faintest idea how much we're likely to be able to spend. As I said though, the moves made so far strongly suggest that funds are relatively limited, if we had the money for a complete overhaul it would very odd to try to keep all the old guard and add journeyman freebies in key positions. I think that's all that was being said initially but some people to have taken it as a suggestion that we're completely penniless.

Why are people making out that we have loads of money and PSR headroom.

In our last set of account we lost £53 mill and that was after taking in close to £73 million in player sales - so without we would have lost about £120 odd mill.

People also saying Roma have FFP problems - they also haven't had two point deductions in the last 12 months by falling foul of regulations.

We dont have loads of money or PSR headroom - certainly not enough to be gifting £20 -£30 million to another football club.

It would be bananas.
Think you need to read the previous posts, most of them are based on the assumption that Everton womens team and Goodison are sold.

We passed PSR so we 'know' it's at most a 40 mil loss

But we also sold players to get those losses - for each of the years in the cycle to bring down those loss numbers, so the losses aren't linear and will be bigger if no players are sold. I.E. You cant make a loss of 50 mill and sell players to bring in 70 mill - and say the loss the following year will be less then 50 mill, if you haven't raised the 70 mill - the loss figure isnt the headline figure to reduct from.
