100% - it needs to be 90s baggy though!

The very reason that a 4th choice doesnt need to be a great player is the very reason it should be a young player. We have to develop young talent.

Keane is old, and poor, and expensive, and instead we could be developing a player for the future. Right now, with Tarkowski's injury, whoever we bring in is 3rd choice, not 4th. We dont know of Tarks will return to form. OBrien has spent much of his time playing RB. Our "4th choice" played 18 matches last season. Everton financially are a world away from last season, with over a 100m swing in finances to use to bring in players.

No were not, were still in the red for now. There were plenty of repotrs that we are going to be tight for psr this season.

Add to that that we need to bring in at least 8-10 players to the squad we dont have the money or anyone in the academy ready to step up.

Keane is the best option for us. If he wasnt why would moyes want him to stay?

Most good young players now aren't interested in being that low down the pecking order. They want to play. They'd have to be extremely good to start in front of Tarks/Branthwaite/JOB from the off and players of that quality will not be cheap.

We have money, yes, but it's not an unlimited budget and it has to be spread across the squad and we have greater priorities for the squad than CB currently.
I would suggest current evidence is young players are happy to be low down in the pecking order if they are paid enough.

There is a pile of them at Chelsea, Brighton, City, and more. They are foolish enough to believe they are always moving up, and will take a spot from someone else. Its a pretty easy sell to tell a young guy you will pay him a lot of money, he gets to play in the PL, hes 3rd choice to start, plays 15 matches a year, and a single injury and hes starting. I think there are countless talented 19 year olds that would take that.
