Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Im sorry but whos 4th choice cb is a good player?

City were using Kyle walker as cb last season and im reliable told hes the worst thing to happen to football since seb blatter.

If city dont have a better cb then what do you exspect us to have. Its about exspectations and understanding where we are as a club and how difficult the rebuild this summer is.

People crying about keane being our 4th choice cb look to me like they just dont understand where everton is as a club atm squad, financially and reputation wise.

Has everton confirmed hes 4th choice? He will be rotated with the others, Branners and Tarks cant do it all.

Didn’t City have:

Dias, Akanki, Stones, Gvardiol, Ake, Kusanov

Wasn’t Walker sent out on loan to Milan because he wasn’t needed?

As 4th choice id probably be more incline to sign him if he was coming from a different team tbh.

Just for fun though whos the player you'd like to come in thats better then keane and happy to sit on our bench as back up and free and on the same wages?
Any answer I give will result in one of the following ripostes from you:

He's worse than Keane
He'll be too expensive
He won't come here to be 4th choice
He's too risky
He's always injured
He's too old
He's too young
He's too short

So what would be the point? Particularly given that who I might want almost certainly won't be coming here because the transfer committee (or whoever is in charge of our transfers) will have other ideas, so it's utterly redundant.

You will now be like "A HA, YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHO WE COULD GET, YOU FOOL. SEE, MICHAEL KEANE IS THE ONLY OPTION IN WORLD FOOTBALL, THERE IS LITERALLY NOBODY YOU CAN NAME WHO IS BETTER" and be all proud of yourself.

The very reason that a 4th choice doesnt need to be a great player is the very reason it should be a young player. We have to develop young talent.

Keane is old, and poor, and expensive, and instead we could be developing a player for the future. Right now, with Tarkowski's injury, whoever we bring in is 3rd choice, not 4th. We dont know of Tarks will return to form. OBrien has spent much of his time playing RB. Our "4th choice" played 18 matches last season. Everton financially are a world away from last season, with over a 100m swing in finances to use to bring in players.

Most good young players now aren't interested in being that low down the pecking order. They want to play. They'd have to be extremely good to start in front of Tarks/Branthwaite/JOB from the off and players of that quality will not be cheap.

We have money, yes, but it's not an unlimited budget and it has to be spread across the squad and we have greater priorities for the squad than CB currently.
