Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

If only it was so simple. If Tarkowski isn't fully fit then we are left relying on Coleman to keep O'Brien from starting at RB and Keane starting. Surely not another season of throwing away the first 9-12 points.

That makes it all the more surprising that we gave Coleman a deal and tried to sign Tete on a free.
I can see what you mean but can also see the thinking behind both of those decisions.

Coleman is needed this year to bed in the many new signings that will be arriving. Think people underestimate the value of having a character like that in the dressing room, especially in a time of massive upheaval.

Tete is a decent player and crucially would have been a free signing. Reports today suggesting the number of players coming in will be in the double figures, free agents and loans are going to be massively important to our strategy this summer.

You're assuming we won't sign a RB. We just tried to sign Tete.
Yep Davy tries to cobble together a squad for the new stadium by giving deals to Coleman and Keane and being knocked back by Young and now Tete.

Keeping in mind that Branthwaite walked off the pitch holding his hammy too.

By the looks of things we are going to have to compromise all over the pitch given the links so far. The only position we are looking like spending any real money on is CF (which is obviously the correct move if we have a limited budget). Our fourth choice CB will play games. They did last season and we are more shorthanded this season. Some are comfortable with Michael Keane, it seems you are for example. I'm not sure what those who are up for him staying on have seen him during his performances for us but all I've seen is an utter liability.

Your premise seems to be that if we let Keane go and have to replace him then that will mean we won't be able to sign our first choice player in some other starting position but I've seen little evidence to support that thesis.

I also don't think anyone is proposing letting Keane go and replacing him with an expensive CB. Keane, by the way, isn't cheap. His last contract was £80k a week by all accounts. He may take a pay cut but he's not suddenly going to accept the £20-30k that many on here seem to think he will be getting next season.
I guess the choice is - would you rather spend money on a RW or 4th choice CH.?

I'm not sure the choice is that binary. You may have marginally less to spend on a RW, I suppose but that is literally the task this summer right across the whole squad, we need players everywhere. Keane is a liability, he should never play for this club ever again. There is no economic argument that will sway me towards keeping terrible players that we can get rid of for no cost. He's a very bad player, exemplified by the fact he seems to have no other options.

Agree. Will be interesting to see if Moyes tries or has the funds to buy another player who can play at 10.

I really like Alcaraz but not sure Moyes is as convinced as many of us. Hopefully he gets more game time at 10 this season.

Think he will try and add another midfielder who can score goals or is creative too as an 8.

Hopefully we get someone like Fellows plus another so we have options on the wing. An expensive player who could play right wing and AM would be ideal.

I wouldn't be too surprised to see Thierno Barry playing in that Fellaini / Doucoure role, as a second striker.

He's never played there before, but if you look at his highlights reel, he often comes a bit deeper to receive the ball in the same position that Fellaini and Cahill used to operate in.

Geez, sounds like we'll need to cobble together a group of GOT members for the opening match.

Not just to be a contrarion but we do have Patterson and Dixon who have both played in the PL. One is a full Scottish International and the other is very pacy. Seems like they have vanished from the collective mindset.
