He'll regret that, will never have it so good again.

We move on - we can 100% improve on him.

Biggest disappointment is we didn't get any money for him - goes down as a rat in my book - ran his contract down, strung the club along last summer when the club was on its back side - 0 respect for him.

No thanks from me, he was an average functionary, we're better than him - or should be and hopefully will be.

Honestly think it's the best solution for all parties. Wish him nothing but the best for the rest of his career. Just hope he gets relegated if he decides to join Leeds. And prefer not to see him in a Newcastle shirt.

I know that this is what modern footballers do - run the contract down then leave for a big personal signing on fee elsewhere, leaving the club that's trained them and the fans that fed and clothed him with nothing and I kind of understand it, but I don't like it,one little bit. Selfish mercenaries ... make it hard to invest interest in modern football.

Bye fella, hope you stay injury free long enough fo finally hit another barn door, like.

Make no bones the previous owners would've caved and offered him stupid money.

This lot have stuck to their guns and he's seen his arse. Bravo.

No personal axe to grind and he's been a good bargain buy.

However, I certainly wouldn't be sucked in by the cut and paste platitudes in his statement.

This whole scenario is the epitome of the Alan Partridge shrug gif.
TFG are running this club now without sentiment…Kenwright would never have let our ‘best boy’ leave the club we’d have caved given him 130-40k

Delighted to know he is not staying. I wonder what terms he wanted? Apparently somebody at the club saw through him and offered him £200 per week, far short of the £20,000 he wanted.

I agree with the thrust of this - modern football, like life, is deeply suspect in many ways - but given I'm not privy to what goes on behind the scenes (and our owners have often been nefarious chancers) I prefer to judge situations by what I see on the pitch.

Bottom line: DCL is not good enough for a club with serious designs on re-establishing itself as a top eight side in this league.

I am somewhat divided over this.
I hope that he hasn't deliberately run his contact down , whilst generally being injured , to orchestrate a more lucrative outcome for him personally , and thereby shaft the club.
I believe that there is still a decent player in there , but probably his ability to produce has been harmed due to a lack of confidence , having generally been mismanaged.
Ironically he is leaving when his current manager would be more likely to get the best out of him.
That said , with the wages he has been on , and his general unavailability due to injury , the time is probably right to go our separate ways as the situation has become unsustainable.
I think his best chance of success may be as a back up at a big club , where he doesn't start every week and isn't the main focus of attention to have to score.
Wish him well , but not against us.

Played a lot, sometimes when it would've probs been better to rest him. Often times in an excruciating role. Didn't per se down his tools.

Having said that: What an abysmal finisher. All the best. The trajectories of these two parties are different.
