But that’s irrelevant to the point I was making isn’t it, so no matter how slowly I read it, it still won’t be a good point.
Yes, in the same way that I’m not aware of anybody ever bidding for Pickford but I wouldn’t be overly keen on us releasing him tomorrow. I wasn’t saying he was a £100m player, just that he’s clearly good enough to play PL football and has been an important part of our squad and so it’s not ideal to lose him for free and have to spend quite a lot of money to replace him. It’s not a particularly difficult thing to understand or very controversial really, it’s just basic common sense.Your point was that he would’ve commanded a decent fee wasn’t it? That’s like sort of exactly what you said word for word?
He could’ve commanded a decent fee, but he never did in the 9 years he was at the football club.
How do we know what offers the club did or didn't receive?Your point was that he would’ve commanded a decent fee wasn’t it? That’s like sort of exactly what you said word for word?

Don't get me wrong I'm not sad to see him go and I think we can do better but the suggestion that he wasn't worthy of a transfer fee throughout his tenure can neither be proved or not ( unless you are employed by the club / his agent and privy to that info)
You'd imagine he / his agent was waiting on the free agent to get more, not less wages. Why would he ask for less wages ?Better to part ways, the return hasn't been good enough. As a squad player for 50-60k a week, maybe, but his demands surely aren't much lower than his current 100k wage, which is will be among the highest in the squad. I think there were rumors of him asking for an even better wage the last few months.
Too many injuries, lack of scoring. We need to better going forward.

Only question is whether other clubs will give him extra wages to offset having to pay a fee for an alternative target.
Somebody may well do but it's probably best it isn't us.
The signs were that he would. Considering he scored an excellent goal in the game vs spurs.I would have been curious whether he would have turned up like Beto under Moyes without the injuries. My guess is no.
But I agree, cannot justify him being in the same wage region as Gueye, Tarks and Pickford that show performances on the pitch and rarely have off days.
