Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

David Moyes: “This could be a period of real change at the Club and I want somebody who can help deliver the messages of what it means to be an Everton footballer”.

To me, the constant use of phrasing like this and also the word "unprecendented" is strange.

Plenty of clubs have had a vast turnover of players.

O'Brien, Ndiaye, Iroegbunam, Lindstrom, Mangala, Broja & Begovic were signed last summer.

Thats 7 players.

Pickford, Tyrer, Mykolenko, Branthwaite, Tarkowski, O'Brien, Coleman, Patterson, Ndiaye, McNeil, Iroegbunam, Garner, Armstrong, Alcaraz, Beto, Chermiti

+ Gana = 17 players.

A squad without Europe is optimal at 23.

Yes, we would probably move a couple on so may need e.g 8 new players.

"Unprecedented" and "a period of real change"

Is something afoot?

Ideally Armstrong, Chermiti, Tim and Patterson go out on loan this summer and I’m not really sure you can count Coleman as a real option so probably need about ten in the door.

Not unprecedented (what Forest did was unprecedented) but certainly a significant period of change, then of course you throw in the stadium move and yeah I do think this is a summer of massive upheaval.

Think the herd by 4 more. Wise move.

Maybe it’s in a David Moyes context? I think he tends to like a tight knit unit with minimal changes. Maybe it’s because players who thought they were guaranteed games (Garner etc) will be getting a shock.
Either way I’m looking forward to next Tuesday when they hopefully damn well get on with it!!

I think the unprecedented thing is just standard framing to dampen expectation. Pretty much all managers do it, Moyes more than most. Keep telling people that is a massive rebuilding job and unlike anything ever done before and you have a ready made excuse should things not go as well as you hope.

The period of real change I would say is just a genuinely valid point. Since the start of last season we’ll have had new owners, a new manager, an entirely new back room structure, a new stadium and likely 6-10 new players. Whichever way you look at it that is a period of real change.

Yeah is why really important this season we really use the 4 loans spots well.

Kind of, I mean would we sign another CF if we got in Barry & sent Chermiti on loan?

Iroegbunam & Armstrong could mean 2 replacements thats not a huge shock based on us needing to improve quality.

Patterson seems done anyway.

Just doesnt seem like major surgery to me.

In terms of starting players, a top RB, CM & RW trio into our current 11 could push the team up a level. Squad players dont scream "massive upheaval" to me.

23 players in a Moyes squad makes sense but not sure where these buzzwords are coming from.

Its bizarre.

If we look exclusively at the numbers then its nothing 'new', aside from the number leaving who have high wages.

Either he's talking nonsense to dampen expectations in case he fails, or perhaps we have more money than we expect?
