I dont think the club are looking at spending that sort of money for a centre mid in this window. (Think he's centre mid?)

Maybe losing 3 players to the Afcon might have been a stretch to far...who knows.

Surprised he's going to Sunderland, fair play to them though, if he has a good season in the prem they'll flip him for £50m or so like we did Onana.

Like others have said, we aren't in a position to slap that kind of money down for a midfielder, RW and striker need to be the priority.

I reckon clubs were put off by that fee. 35m is a fair chunk for someone that still has a lot to prove.

Probably only putting down £10m or something up front though. And it would be worth it if they made a decent go of it and managed to scrape safety.

As far as I know he plays alot wide right and scored against England from that position

He’ll have a relegation release clause included there. If he’s as good as we think he’s going to be he won’t be at Sunderland long.
