2024/25 Youssef Chermiti

Unless he has said he wants to go play in the Championship, at this point I would look to send him out to Portugal or Spain with a view to maximising a return on him. Not sure sending him to say a Stoke is going to be good for his career.

Stoke's manager is Mark Robins who is credited for making Gyökeres (and Adam Le Fondre) the player he is. Sometimes plying your trade in the Championship can be good for your career, it's a very competitive league. Much more competitive than what he'd get back in Portugal anyway, slotting past Santa Clara...

Can see this both ways.
But slotting past Santa Clara and looking good in Portugal does give him a European profile. Slotting 7 for stoke kind of make him not good enough for anyone.

Don't get me wrong, it's great if it works. If he struggles though we are then 3 years into a 4 year deal and we'll have yet another asset that likely walks away.

At this point I would go for what is more likely and that would be slotting past a Santa Clara whilst back living in his home country.

What did we pay for this dud?
Quite a lot apparently, but not as much as for Beto, who, iirc, was considered 'dud' until he got a run and a bit of a chance.
He got injured last August and isn't now last I heard. Let him get a decent pre season and a run of games and see how he actually shapes - then write him off...or not, as the case may be
