Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

McAtee is the one we should be going ALL. OUT. for.

Technically gifted, actual end product, plenty of experience in the English game, perfect age to contribute at a high clip now but still have resale, England U21, in a position we need. And most importantly- available.

30m was always a ludicrous price for Doak but is a snip for McAtee.

I hope we don’t spend all summer mulling over Barry and his apparent release clause. Other players will be snapped up!
Unsure about McAtee. I rate him, but a lot of the value of these kids from City's academy is a result of their football education. They come from a school of football that is front foot and offensive. With teams having a lot of possession.

There is a lot of things he would have learned in the City academy that he'll have to unlearn playing for Everton. How to react and what to do in various situations are vastly different playing in a David Moyes team. He'll be much less involved and his average position will be 30-40 meters further away from the opponents goal than what it has been for City.

Obviously a talent, but not that highly rated at City. If Oscar Bobb hadn't fractured his leg in pre-season last summer, McAtee would have been sold for £5-7 millions. And if he was in City's plans, he would be playing club world cup this summer, not U21 Euros.

Yes, he played two seasons on loan at Sheffield United, but didn't show anything there that should justify a high transfer fee. All the hype comes from having an OK season as a squad player for City. He started three matches and played 343 minutes in the league.

I have similar reservations - that’s not saying he’s not a very talented lad - it’s saying I’m not sure he’s what we need at the moment.

I think for the next couple of seasons at least we’ll continue to be a team that defends quite deep and looks to counter or score from set pieces. We won’t be dominating the ball. Forest have shown that this can be successful.

I’d like a bit of a speedster on the right - although I don’t know who.
