Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Seems like we'll start seeing genuine links from July. Not ideal, but not too late as long as we actually do start bringing players in relatively quickly.

Seeing as we need 2-3 regular starting XI players, alongside at least 6-7 squad players, we really need to give them ample time to settle and get to know their new surroundings and team mates - lord knows we've suffered badly on that front in recent decades.

Seems the new owners are doing the right things behind the scenes, I'm just a little worried that all of these new appointments will only now start working together to identify players, and we are hardly going to go from identifying players to actually signing them within a couple of weeks.

Seems there will be plenty of voices going into deciding who comes in, and that's got the potential to delay actually approaching clubs and putting in bids, which in turn could lead us to losing out to clubs prepared to actually go in with money.

Hopefully everything works out, we badly need to get it right.

Why do you think they will only now start working together to identify players?

They'll surely have had multiple conversations by now. The only chap who isnt joining yet isnt going to be directly working on transfers, unless were after kids from United

Shea Charles is another "utility" type I was referring to with Timothy Weah. He covers multiple positions. All that concerns me is why was he loaned out when Southampton had a Championship level squad last season? Surely they could have utilised him, especially over the likes of Flynn Downes?

….sometimes ‘the penny just drops’ with these youngsters, they’re playing regular competitive football. No doubt he had a terrific season at Sheff Wed.

Don't forget the fact they're not just starting out in the sport, pal. They'll have hundreds (thousands?) of connections with the amount of experience they've got.

He was my favourite prem player even before he signed

It’s the only time Everton have signed my favourite player

Kanchelskis for that one season alone is surely up there with our best ever players on the right wing.

Yes Trevor Steven and going back there are other top class players of their times...but Kanchelskis was something else.

These days the only comparisons are with the elite level players and I'm sure he'd be with Madrid or PSG if he played in the modern era.

What we need to do is try and find one or two players who can become top notch. At the moment theyre in limited supply.

I wonder why there are so few good centre forwards around thesedays? As for right wingers, not many to write home about either.

Hopefully we still have the list of players Thelwell, Purdy and Moyes have been looking at since January and have been working on them.

PI remember being astounded when we pulled that off. I’m still not quite sure how we managed it.

Signings of that calibre have been few and far between.

I think the only signing that’s wowed me to a remotely similar degree since has been Lukaku.
He was basically the best in his position in the league if not the world. Other comparable signings in our history might be Lawton, Ball and Lineker but I wasn't around to know how hyped those signings were.
