We will bring in loan signings as well
We might sell Branthwaite if the right offer comes in
we might NOT sell him neither

I’d guess it will be one more freebie [probably a 2nd or 3rd choice GK], one more perm [taking the gross spend closer to £80m/£90m] and one less loan [as to have 4 loan players in a squad of ~20 feels like a lot].Hypothetically:
2 × Free: Tagliafico + Walker
4 × loan
3 × Permanent Signings
= 9 players.
So is 0. Why get stuck on a value that probably has nothing to do with the real number?Whether it’s guess work or not it’s just not enough given how starved we’ve been of investment and we’ve cleared the decks for what?
No more jobs for the boys clean slate and hope we can push on
And that has some big issues. First, how much loss will we make this season? How much of that can be deducted from the PSR calculations? How much does the club project to make profit next season, including possible sponsorship deals that have not been published yet? Like a possible new shirt sponsor? And looking at the losses of last year, how much of that went towards the PSR calculations?Think his estimates are based on PSR calculations from the bbc article I read. Again they are estimates and only the club will know for sure. I can’t imagine we’re going to spend £250million or anything like that mind you.

What’s the alternative?I am slightly sceptical that we will be bringing in 8- 10 players during this window.
Regardless of the financial implications ( and no one outside the club knows for certain what we have to spend ) the logistics of bringing in this many players ( negotiations, agents etc , etc ) are daunting.
I also doubt any coach would want to face the prospect of blending so many players into the group, given that all coaches prefer a smaller tight nit group as opposed to a sprawling organisation that becomes a breeding ground for dissatisfaction and discontent.
This is all accentuated by the fact our new administrative structure will need time to settle in.
My guess would be 3 or 4 players with the emphasis on suitability, need and quality.
Not a massive Forest like splurge of bulk purchases.
Totally agree with what you’re saying but in 12 days time we’ll only have 14 players in our first team squad. We quite simply need 8-10 signings just to have a matchday squad. I imagine 3/4 will be substantial fees and the rest will be frees/loans to supplement the squad.I am slightly sceptical that we will be bringing in 8- 10 players during this window.

Utilise young players , perhaps? What’s the alternative?
We have 14 players.
