Transfer Rumour Kyle Walker

One I would actually go for on a season loan but of course down to wages. I just cannot see Patterson being our first choice RB had plenty of mgrs look at him and even with injuries none rated him enough to give him starts when no other RB available, sale use the cash and wages elsewhere. Coleman will be good for cups (hopefully) and from the bench (hopefully), albeit we know wont be fully fit 100% of the time. O'Brien to fill in if needed. Could add a young RB to understudy for the season with the sale of Pattersons funds or is there one from the youth team that needs another year? if so perfect stop gap and spend wages elsewhere. He is still a top FB. Yes for me.

Judging by the links so far, I would say somewhere in the region of £0. Short sighted, if true, imo.

As much as I’d like to see us do a proper job of upgrading the full back positions, they aren’t usually make or break for a team. I reckon we will spend the big money in forward positions, which does make sense when you consider our biggest downfall has been scoring goals.

Wiith Mykolenko and O'Brien still around then bringing in Tagliafico & Walker on frees for a season doesnt make us worse.

I am hopeful that there is a major upside in that we sign several top young players to balance things out.

I think many are assuming there will be a significant spend this summer. However, we've been linked with two ~£30m pound forwards and then a bunch of frees and loans in every other position. Maybe we have a budget for a forward and little else? It's too early to be too concerned but, equally, there is no real evidence of us buying a considerable number of players either.

Would be a terrible signing.
  1. Absolutely huge wages at present - about 200 grand a week.
  2. Miles past his best on a steep decline - City desperate to offload for free despite him being under contract, and Milan not interested in taking him back.
  3. Massive questions over his personality - surely we don't want to bring in players that could upset a close group of players?
  4. Would ultimately lead to O'Brien pushed back to the bench (unless the plan really is to sell Branthwaite) as he wouldn't join us without being guaranteed a start.
  5. Would be no kind of long-term solution - O'Brien impressed last season and the idea must surely be to improve on him, not take a 35-year-old whose only main attribute - his speed - has long since left him.
  6. What motivation does Kyle Walker have to leave Manchester City and join Everton? If he joins us it's due to him not wanting to relocate.
If this is the extent of our ambition this summer it's a awful sign.

Thankfully this was reported by the publication that shall-not-be-named, so we know its false.

Also, almost none of our deals for the past couple of windows has been known in advance. Im not saying it wont happen, just that multiple outlets reporting interest doesnt mean what it used to.
