Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

When you say "last payday", surely we'd only be paying a portion of his wages as a loan?

Assuming it's real, he's going to want to be at the world cup (yes, that's fanciful as things stand), he would know that he'd have to play very well here to get ahead of Alexander-Arnold, Reece James, etc

I'll say it again to make sure all my devil's advocate stuff doesn't muddy the waters - I don't want him - but I do think everyone is going over the top about how he's suddenly become terrible after a poor 12 months and in particular a poor last half of the season where he missed half of Milan's games through injury.

I want us to sort the RB position out properly as it's an area where we aren't great, but if we have to go for a temporary solution because finances won't stretch to all the players we need, then ok, he wouldn't be top of my list for that either, but he'd 1 million per cent be ahead of Ashley Young.
I do understand your point , but as longtime Evertonians ( and any supporters of perpetual mid table clubs ) we have seen this scenario play out so many times before . Big name but declining player is brought in to fix a problem , has a few decent games but increasingly looks a shadow of his former self , fades out of the picture as the season progresses and leaves unremarked when the season ends .
Occasionally it works , but rarely.
A general rule of thumb should be to avoid players whose trajectory is downward.
It would be extremely disappointing to realise this is an example of our current scouting system.
Unimaginative and lacking vision .
Hoping that the reports are baloney .

I doubt it would have anything to do with the scouting system in all honesty.

This would be a Moyes decision and at a complete guess I would assume it would be because we will be bringing in a large number of players, most of the ones we spend any significant money on being younger ones, and he will want to balance it out with some experience.

To be honest, my main reservation is just that I simply don't like the fella. Has always come across like a thoroughly unpleasant human being.

I'd imagine the chances of it being seen as any kind of success would be under 25%

I know Walker is massively on the slide but he’s still streets ahead of any right back we have. Wages would be the issue though or he’d be fine for a year.

Agreed … not my preferred choice but walks into our starting 11

With the amount of signings needed and our ( I’m assuming) limited budget.

Signing him would improve an area of the team that was a massive problem for us .

Would also mean we can use the funds saved to spend on a striker/ winger/cm etx

There will be a couple of these signings imo and I’m ok to accept it as we are in need of like 8 players to even have a “small” squad

A walker peters signing would make a lot of sense and then a 4th choice cb

Maybe the guy from Millay for 1.2m?

Then we have most of our budget to find a striker , 2 cm and 2 RW players

He's a much, much worse footballer than Young. If obviously a bellend as a person and is slower these days than Young, when his entire game relied on pace. He's been a disaster in Italy by all accounts.

He is not slower than young … young was never as fast as walker and young is 40 years old … you could see during games what he wanted to do but his legs just couldn’t move quick enough and he’d lose the ball and have no chance to recover

Coleman can’t even get onto the pitch so we can count him out as a footballer, but I honestly don’t think there’s be much in a foot race between Walker and Young tbh.

Young looked like an old man when on the pitch .

He got out paced by average prem players on the weekly ….

Wouldn’t cross the half way line as he knew he couldn’t get back and gave away fouls, pens and got booked or sent off a lot over the past few seasons .
