Other Clubs Transfer Window 2025-2026.

Calafiori
Jorginho
Tonali
Kayode
Udogie

Etc etc...?
I'll give you Tonali, although he did spend a massive chunk of his time at Newcastle so far banned for his 5 fold accumualtors

Jorginho - Brazilian born, but i can fully accept that, been in England for 8 years

How you can call any of these a success is you being mental
Calafiori - cant get in the Arsenal team (29% of minutes last season), missed 16 games through 3 different injury's, if that's a success I'd love to see a failure
Kayode - started 6 games, only finished 1 90 minutes
Udogie - Not played more than 30 games in a PL season yet, less goals and assists than Mykolenko in that time

Do you actually watch these players or do you just read the transfer story's in the Athletic and just agree they are good?
Based on your bar for success Moise Kean smashed it in the Prem

Rumours that Liverpool will spend for Isaak as well.

It’s honestly just turned into football manager now. 5 teams with unlimited budgets, everyone else with hardly any money. Then next season they put the same 5 or 6 teams on TV every week so they get even more money. Best league in the world though.
I saw the Sky advert for the new PL season yesterday. Which teams do you think were included in the advert? The same ones as usual. Surprise, surprise.

For me, "did well" is a bit different to being a "success". I suppose it depends on your interpretation.

I rate Kayode highly and as an Italian u21 international wanted us to sign him (Ive posted as much). If we wanted two quick full backs who can play 'both ways', he and Udogie would be on my list if either became available. Both have "done well" in their time on the pitch bearing in mind their circunstances and ages.

Also, Calafiori certainly "did well" in his time on the pitch. Their English international and Gabriel have kept him out (along with injuries), which doesnt knock him.

Thanks for "giving me" Tonali and Jorginho lol

Who was the last italian that did well in the PL?

I love Serie A and all Italian footy, but you are right for me.

I never want us to sign Italian players, they just dont travel well, not just prem, but to any league outside Italy.

Its cultural for me, they are clearly excellent players, technically better than most nations etc. But they just love playing in Italy, its some country tbf.

Zambrotta even late in his career played very well for Barça, fondly remembered by culés but its fair to say few have thrived. Cannavaro never stood out in Spain but Premiership did see key ones with Chelsea (Zola, Di Matteo & Vialli)

None of that actually translates to them actually 'doing well' though.

I'm glad you rate Kayode, as so do i. But if he hop footed back to Italy due to a number of different reasons, he wouldn't be the first good player too. You can't make an assessment on half a dozen starts

Udogie has done 'ok' nothing more, nothing less. That's not doing well. On this basis Zapacosta & Darmien were raging success' in England. i will give you Emerson Palmieiri though he has done well (like Jorginho, brazilian born)

Calafiori again.....stinks of not settling, i can picture him going back to Italy to do really well for Napoli or Juve for less of a fee Arsenal paid for him.

For context to others, this is Zat getting excited over a lad who cost Brighton £10m for someone who has played 2 full seasons in Italy

Think you have worded that perfectly.

The obvious omissions are your Zola's & Vialli's, but that is so long ago, I'd say culture wise its even harder for an Italian to settle in the UK now.

Its the first thing i think when we are linked with an Italian, London....they might be ok, but there are only so many times they can visit Amalia in a week

Ravanelli
Zola
di canio
Vialli
de Matteo
Pelle
Lombardo
Cudicini
Carbone
Maccarone
Materazzi

C.Ancelotti

Some conveyor belt of talent from the hyper passionate Mediterranean's.
Ravanelli - 30 years ago/relegated
Zola - 30 years ago
di canio - 30 years ago
Vialli - 30 years ago
de Matteo - 30 years ago
Pelle - Good shout, but also 10 years ago
Lombardo - Relegated/30 years ago
Cudicini - Good shout, but also 20 years ago
Carbone - 30 years ago
Maccarone - stunk the place out off a big fee, went back to italy and was good
Materazzi - got sent off a million times, didn't settle, went back to italy and was ace

I think its the same for Brits abroad too, not many travel and do THAT well.

Always the odd exception to the rule i suppose.

Lombardo - Watching Palace since 1968 he remains by some distance the best player I have ever seen in a Palace shirt. Playing in a team full of dross and injured for long periods of the season he stood out and no way would we have been relegated if he hadn’t been regularly kicked into the treatment bench.
Some perspective added for clarity.
