2024/25 Jordan Pickford

Pickford has NOTHING to prove to Everton or to England. He is a smashing goalie and both club and country are lucky to have him...i love the guy

However, aside from Everton fans it seems the entire country have some agenda against him and spend all their time and effort into proving he is a poor goalie.
I find it bizarre that over the years not one non Evertonian has ever stood up for him. Someone should be brave enough in the media to stand by him and tell the country he is by far the best English keeper.

It's a testament to Pickford's belief that he still allows himself to be called up for the national team.....Many a player who's whole career has been nothing but calls for him to be replaced and odd insults would have retired from international duty.
The narrative is crazy against him. Just crazy

It's because he's not a rs. If he was, the media would worship him.

It’s scary how much control the media and pundits actually have over club and manager decisions.

As soon as there’s headlines these managers without a back bone react.

Pickford is Englands best and the media and pundits trying to dictate a change is disgusting.
I still get angry about that Baines interview which cost him a world cup place. The perfect storm of a "journalist" with an agenda and the laziest England manager in living memory.

To me it just seems like a favour to the 'big clubs' in insisting players are only good enough for England if they're playing in European competition, which clearly makes no sense if the Premier League is supposed to be the best league in the world, as you correctly state. I guess that must mean that no more United players will be selected for England for the World Cup.

In any case, for me it's just another reason not to bother with the national team when there are managers like that being paid obscene money, and players like Henderson continuing to represent the country.
To me it's just another way of keeping teams where Sky want them, not picking Braithwaite because he isn't playing in Europe is absolutely mental, and it makes the player think about moving especially in a world cup year.. Braithwaite decides he needs to move hands in a transfer request the super massive clubs know he wants a move so submit low ball offers, then we have no option but to accept one as there's no point in having a player that doesn't want to be there.

Pickford may not have the experience of playing European football at club level, but has featured in two European Championship finals and a World Cup semi-final for England.

I think this just happens to England players regardless - media criticism of players is a tabloid click feast in the same way the migrant rhetoric gets the gammons in a frenzy

Southgate to be fair to him was good at that, stuck with Maguire also

Very strange by the manager to not play him to be honest.

What's he going to learn by playing Kyle Walker that we don't already know (that he's finished at this level)? Or Dean Henderson, does he need further confirmation that he's nowhere near Pickford's level or something? Ivan Toney, Curtis Jones, Jordan Henderson, Ezri Konsa, Reece James and probably Dan Burn should be absolutely nowhere near that squad.

Let's be honest though, the English players just aren't all that. Some of them produce flashes of magic for their domestic clubs, but hardly any of them are genuinely world class.

Anyway, I think Spain will once again start to rule world football in the coming years.
France too. Spain and France have some unbelievable young players and some high quality old heads. It's a good combo.

James Trafford 73 games in last 2 seasons = 31 clean sheets (28 in the Championship, 2 in the Premier League)

Jordan Pickford last 73 games = 24 clean sheets (All in the Premier League)

So all Pickford would of had to do is play 7 games for Burnley in he Championship to match that

I wouldn't swap him for anyone in the league.

Interesting though, Dean Henderson last 73 games = 26 clean sheets (All in Premier League)
