Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Our current strongest starting XI is
…………………..Pickford
O’Brien…….Tarks…….Branners…..Myko
………………..Gana…….Garner
……..McNeill……Alcaraz…….NDiaye
…………………….Beto

If we kept all of these players, where are the key areas we need to buy for to improve the starting XI?

Everyone wants attacking full backs, but that would see O’Brien on the bench. He’s too good not to play based on last seasons form.

Myko has been sound defensively too.

An upgrade on Garner, McNeill and Beto? Is that where most people hope to see the new additions bought for?

We need upgrades on all of those players you mentioned and also both full back positions. We also need a squad that has players of equal or similar ability to the starting XI ready to come off the bench around the hour mark, as with 5 subs that is a key component where games are won and lost these days. I’d also like to see O’Brien phased into the team alongside Branthwaite at CB with Tarkowski becoming the backup, personally. He’s just had a bad injury and at 33 we don’t know how he’ll come back from it.

What would be the purpose of not announcing them now but they have done others?

It suggests decisions have not been fully made....
Keeping his cards close to his chest. I know it's not what we fans want but it makes a nice change not to have every man, woman and its dog knowing the club's business. As far as I'm concerned I'll only believe in actual in and outgoings after they happen, not just online rumours.

I agree, we won`t be anywhere near a relegation fight, we might even win a game in August.... but like you say past seasons and money will be key factors for some players and the pull of Everton isn`t what a lot is making it out to be.

The longer players hold off, as you say, and the agents start circulating their clients clubs with better records and more PSR headroom get involved and if that happens we generally miss out.

Genuine question, who was the last player we signed that had offers from other top 10 PL clubs...
Mirallas?

Central midfield and right wing.

CF

In that order. I think upgrading on CF is going to be the hardest thing to do given it's the position everyone is looking for. Obviously we need to get someone in but I'd be careful about blowing the budget on a player who doesn't really improve us.

Whereas a pacey RW and natural RB would be an immediate improvement on the first team. O'Brien has done a fine job but I think he'll be needed at CB with Tarkowski's injury.

Are all pressing needs.

The defensive stats when Pickford Branthwaite Tarkowski Mykolenko play together are very good. I didn’t realise they were that good but apparently it’s been one of the best defences in the league since September. I know people are desperate for Leighton Baines reincarnated and Everton to attack solely through a flying left back but I wouldn’t be surprised if Moyes sees Mykolenko as first choice and concentrates funds on a right back and a utility full back to cover.

If Moyes rates Myko then he should probably quit.

I think the plan this summer will be to fill the holes in the squad that are desperately needed hence why we may see Keane stay, aswell as people like Myko. Though they need an upgrade it's not a position we either have nobody like RW or we are severely lacking in quality or availability like RB.

Next summer we will be able to upgrade first teamers that are lacking like Myko perhaps.
