Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

100% mate. Such obvious bias towards the teams that sit within the ‘brand’, I would love it is the rest broke away and formed their own league. Leave the sly six playing each other six times a season and leave the rest of us with a level playing field.
Yeah there is a big part of me that wished that they would have left and been kicked out of the domestic league.

People say but there would be less TV money and the teams wouldn’t be able to compete with the rest of Europe. Same as arguments about a salary cap. Who cares. Better than having the top teams on the league having such a financial advantage over the rest of the league

Not expecting anything of significance between now and the end of the month.

Should really be quite hectic in July though . I don't mind a couple of loans on the final deadline day, but we should be doing most of our business in July which surely means 5 or 6 players in next month.

They need to be preparing the ground in June. Nothing stopping us negotiating with clubs and players this month so that we are ready to go come July. If we are a fortnight into July and we're not seeing a series of blue scarf photos in the new stadium, well, this new regime is already holed under the bow.

I think its more likely a low offer has been made and the Agents are frantically seeing if they can get better elsewhere before the contracts end. I also suspect that a few we have bid on are doing the same. Very few will jump at coming to us (given our struggles in the last four or five seasons), most will be OK with us, but will want to use the window to see if anyone comes in with more money / less prospect of being in a relegation fight. I dont think we will be next season, but on past record, it is something players and agents will weigh up.
I agree, we won`t be anywhere near a relegation fight, we might even win a game in August.... but like you say past seasons and money will be key factors for some players and the pull of Everton isn`t what a lot is making it out to be.

The longer players hold off, as you say, and the agents start circulating their clients clubs with better records and more PSR headroom get involved and if that happens we generally miss out.

Genuine question, who was the last player we signed that had offers from other top 10 PL clubs...

That’s how I see it. I would hope a few deals already lined up for 1st July.
They can still announce them if the paperwork is signed... In the ruthless football world you risk losing players if you are lining up deals and leaving them unsigned which would allow other teams in.

I believe we are negotiating but I don`t believe we will see a big name come in, I don`t think we get Grealish because even if he took a £200k per week wage decrease he would still be our best paid player in Evertons history, is that value for money for a 30 year old that barely plays anymore? I think we`ve been burnt like this before.

Yes a good player, although we`ve not seen that for a fair while, but is he worth the money for which we could get 2 or 3 good quality players from France or Germany?

Well, hopefully more attractive than the last couple of seasons at least - and we still managed to get some decent players in OBrien and Ndiaye.

I guess the competition for the obvious targets will always be significant and we will struggle until we have better revenue / PSR.

He would be the icing on the cake if we had qualified for Europe - but to me we need to be building the side ground up at the moment, not finishing it off with an expensive player.

Yes, JOB and NDaiye are good players, potentially even more so next season... JOB we signed from Lyon, we had help in that Textor basically directed the sale to us and not many were willing to touch NDaiye because of his form at Marseille, we were unopposed from PL clubs for both of these players.

Which was my point in a round about way...

Our current strongest starting XI is
…………………..Pickford
O’Brien…….Tarks…….Branners…..Myko
………………..Gana…….Garner
……..McNeill……Alcaraz…….NDiaye
…………………….Beto

If we kept all of these players, where are the key areas we need to buy for to improve the starting XI?

Everyone wants attacking full backs, but that would see O’Brien on the bench. He’s too good not to play based on last seasons form.

Myko has been sound defensively too.

An upgrade on Garner, McNeill and Beto? Is that where most people hope to see the new additions bought for?
