Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

The transfer fee is written off over the length of the contract. The impact on this year's accounts would be fairly minimal (assuming we are using 30 June year end)
I may be wrong but my understanding was that if, for example, we signed a £9m player on a three year contract that £3m would be booked as expenditure in each of the three PSR periods from that point. So if we signed that player in June 25, £3m in expenditure would be logged for the 24/25 accounting window. Is that not correct?

I would have assumed it would be pro rata. If someone signed now for 3 years till June 28, you really only have 1 month out of 37 falling in this period.

I’m sure I saw someone comment that it would only be a months worth of that cost. So while it’s £3m over a year, it would effectively be £250k as there’s only a month left.

But I don’t know, would seem crazy to put a whole years into this year based off 1 month but who knows what the actual rules are

I suspect that if we sign them on a 37 month contract so early by a month only 1/37 finds its way into this years PSR numbers and 12/37ths for next three years

Who knows, gents, I hate how much I talk about finances now rather than football? I also hate how opaque all of the rules and regs seem to be too. Happy to be wrong on this one, if that is the case.
