Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I think it would make sense, despite people miffed about it. I don't like him but as a 4th choice it's fine. We have far more pressing problems than at CB and that can be a position to target next summer if needed.
He looked better under Moyes , as did most of them , do I want him to stay then no but as I’ve said before if he’s 4th choice and enables us to sign a better first choice somewhere else I’m ok with it .

To be honest I think both of them walk into our team.

We are crying out for pace and a goal.threat from the right and Doak appears to have that in he can reproduce his Championship form in the PL.

As for McAtee he is a quality player and based on what I've seen I'd select him ahead of Garner in CM or Charly as ACM.
I'd be wary of spending that much money on McAtee to play in a position he's never played at the top level personally. When you add in that Doak has never really played at the top level at all it would be quite a risk to bring both of them in for the amounts it would likely cost. As I said, if it was a realistic option to bring both of them in then i'd be happy enough with it, but i'm just not sure it is.

How much would McAtee go for?

With Boyland suggesting the £30m fee for Delap was doable and that we could be in for as many as 10 players, it's hard to see us signing both McAtee and Doak.

There might be one "push the boat out" domestic signing but I'd imagine most of the rest will be made up from The Championship/Europe, and loans/frees.

I'd imagine McAtee would cost more than Doak. Very hard to envisage spending north of £60m on them combined.

I reckon they'd both be in that c. 30m range with McAtee having the potential to go over and Doak under it. I think both have room for negotiation though.

I don't rate Hume all that much, but he's miles better than Patterson, so maybe we can do some kind of swap with them.

Could see him being a £30m + add ons kind of player. Exactly the kind of player we should be going for. Right age, talent, potential sell on value etc.

Only problem is we need about 5 or 6 £30m players to really improve, and as you say it’s hard to imagine. We’ll only be able to if we sell Jarrad and nobody really wants that.

I agree that we need major squad surgery, but it's a journey.

Our latter season form would be enough to see us fall just short of European football. One or two great signings could make a lot of short-term difference.

This is only a guess ( of course) but I could see us buying a couple of players at £30m each and then bringing in frees and loans .

For me the 2 most important positions and which potentially transform the team are CF and RW.

After that RB and CM.

Then LB , GK and CH.

…no. Stones is a sick note, Grealish is awful and always vastly overrated so it means we’d be swapping Branthwaite for McAtee who struggles for game time in a relatively poor City team but might be worth a punt if the price is right.

Thankfully, Moyes is in charge of transfers now.
You keep saying this as if you know that it is true, but in his reign so far we have only signed Alcaraz (twice) who is someone that you have also claimed Moyes wasn't sure about. So how can both of your assertions be true, since you have stated them both so confidently?
