Well I’ve now experienced what hitting “the wall” feels like
Sheer hell!
Got it done anyway
Massive, aren't they?
Finished the Staveley half marathon this afternoon... only fell down twice.
As a southerner, im not conditioned for this sort of thing... but i keep coming back to the lakes.
The Eagle and child pub took the edge off the bruising.
I even checked how long it takes to get to lime street from the lakes... hoping I can convince the family to move up north within a few years
Wanted to take in the scenery, but too much looking down anticipating the next rock. It’s a deceptively tough course, a mix of trail and fell.
That first mile or so uphill is killer too
Lakeland trails events are the best, they cater for everyone from the elite, to those that walk around the course![]()
Looks idyllic! Well done.View attachment 319406
Race 6 of the year today - Gisburn Forest half marathon.
It’s a part of the world I’ve never been to before, around Clitheroe.
Every bit as beautiful as the Yorkshire Dales.
It was a tough race for a Forest course, lots of climbs and rocky sections on the edges of the forest where it joins the surrounding moors.
The technical bits really slowed me down and I was about ten mins outside my target time.
Looks idyllic! Well done.
I'm way behind in getting the miles in. Have Keswick Lakeland trail next month, just don't think ill be prepared
