Neal Maupay

I think under normal circumstances the sale isn't deferred to the end of the player's existing contract, so this is an odd case. However, it's certainly true in this case because the agreement wasn't just a deferred obligation, but includes a sell-on clause. I imagine this was a three part negotiation between Marseille, Everton and Maupay's agent, and he'd have already agreed to the terms that would follow the loan.

Maupay just told the French press that he expects to stay at Marseille, but supposedly they intend to sell him. If so, Everton should be paid the initial sale fee plus I think a 20% sell-on fee.
20% of nothing if we're lucky.

If this is true a delegation of Everton board members should get a sedan chair, find Thelwell and carry him on their shoulders to BMD where he will be praised by the masses.

Set himself up for a massive fall with all his Twitter carry on.
I think we need more people like him. Footballers are so well trained now that none of them say what they think, just give out generic bland statements one after the other. We give players stick, it should be fun when they give it back. It usually comes back to bite them anyway, but football should be about fun, and some of the stuff he posts is pretty funny.

Crap footballer though.

Agree with you alright in a way. Not many good personalities in sports these days such as football, tennis, golf even darts players are gone boring as feck. However, if your going to be up to the shenanigans Maupay does be at you need to be able to back it up some bit with ability or you come across a bit of a tit. Iv no ill will against him anyway. His only goal for us got us a win against west Ham and without those 3 points we would have been relegated

Heard we've paid Marseille four million to cancel their mandatory permanent signing of Maupay, reason being that we feel we can sell him for a higher price than they're currently locked in to pay. Apparently Al Hilal are looking for him to be their long-term Neymar replacement.

Lol, if that was true then Marseille would be breathing a huge sigh of relief now that they’ve been let off the mandatory obligation to purchase clause in the loan contract.
They'll try and spin him asap for about 9m the horrible little goblin
Try’ being the operative word there, mate. How can you flog a player for a profit when he’s hardly featured for you all season?!
What would be your major selling points?
‘No one can warm a bench better than Neal! And he comes with a charming and witty social media presence on X!’
They’d be lucky to flog him at a major discount, if that.

He hired a company to take care of his social media, so he can't even do that right

Ahhhh... Is that what the problem is?

He hasn't posted anything since the 11th of February, and here we all are worrying whether the lad is ok, or not!
Almost so, that I was this close to contacting Marseille directly to make a genuine enquiry about his well-being.

He needs to bin them, then... They obviously have no clue about 'promoting viral digital content', or 'brand recognition', or what it means to be 'on fleek', etc, etc...

I’m still not sure who sanctioned the signing of a bloke who has known attitude concerns, is incapable of scoring goals despite being a striker and in the imaginary world where he might be good it would have to be with two up front, something the club haven’t done for over a decade.

Bizarre transfer, cba to look but stinks of a dodgy agent deal.
