EFC out of contract players Summer 2025

Which players out of contract in the Summer do you want kept on?

If you re-read the post I specifically stated Patterson not up to it.

"That includes Patterson who doesn’t appear up to it and Beto."

If I intended to say that Beto was not up to it I would have said.

"That includes Patterson and Beto, who do not appear to be up to it ."

I would like to keep Beto. He makes things happen despite looking ungainly. I do think that we need another CF that is better/different to Beto.

I simply think that there is a good chance he will leave because

a) I've no idea where we are on PSR but suspect that we will have to keep an eye on it and he appears to be one of our saleable assets.
b) He wanted to move previously.
c) He has two years left on his contract which means that his value will be less next summer.

There’s absolutely no way on earth Beto leaves in the Summer - barring a ridiculous bid we just can’t say no to.

Why would Moyes sell him after what he’s done since January? He’s head and shoulders above the fraud Calvert Lewin.

We need a striker who scores goals - that’s Beto. I wouldn’t be surprised if Moyes brings someone in on loan as a backup to Beto and strengthens elsewhere.

I don't disagree.

The thrust of my initial post was that given the move to BMD, that we should be wary about a vast overhaul of players and there may be sense in some short term extensions.

Yeah and I wouldn't be happy with it, but also.... we need a squad. Its all good and well saying they're not good enough to varying degrees - totally agree - but are we really going to let 8-10 senior team players go and get the same in, discounting the fact we probably needed more in the first place, all in one window? Can't see it.

Yeah absolutely. We all have seen rebuilds and our squad needs one ,it feels like every year we say “huge summer for the club this “ and every year we’re found wanting .

The squad needs an overhaul but we simply cant buy 15 players . If keeping some as a 4 choice enabled us to buy a better first choice ok ok with that .
 

If the other three stay I’d be surprised if that’s confirmed this week. They will have to brief press and social media folk first to push the positive narrative on their behalf.
